Question about downloads ?

When I click on a file to download, a blank page opens up over the download page. before I can download I have to close the blank page. WHY?????

This has occurred since the system has been restored. We're trying to nail down a cause, but it remains elusive.

Sometimes I have to right click on a download link and then select "Save Target As" from the drop down menu. I can then download the item without any further trouble.
