That is one of the files that is in FSX's main ..\Texture folder...
...the one that ACES forgot to include in their default texture.cfg fallback path list!

I understand what and where it is. I'm just wondering WHY
FSX would be looking for it in conjunction with an AI
aircraft model. The envmap in not referenced in the MDL
file of any of the AI aircraft that FSX is doing searches
for. I believe that the enmap file is used in conection
to a cockpit display or somesuch.
One of the reasons I've been delving into the various
file searches in connection to AI aircraft is that I'm trying
to figure out why my core 0, or whatever core is doing
the main FSX stuff, goes to 0% activity and my display
freezes for anywhere from .5 seconds to 1-2 seconds and
sometimes repeats that behavior several times when I
get within the area of a major airport. Looking at the
activity light on the drive that holds my AI aircraft, it
seems these 'freezes' are happening when AI aircraft
files are being loaded.
This is very annoying and causes problems when I'm
flying the A2A B-377, triggering an "FSX Event Failure"
message and loss of some of the features on that aircraft.
Occasionally I see all 4 cores go to 0% activity, or close
to 0% and I just can't understand why that is happening, thus my use of FileMonitor to try to correclate
events.
