Question for you RAF fanatics..

SOH-CM-2026
I just started goofing around with the ALPHASIM Supermarine Swift FR-5, a neat airplane looking for a good sound folder*, and the one thing that doesn't seem right is the pilot's helmet. Both the stock texture and a repaint (75 SQDN and 79 SQDN) feature white helmets and dark blue or the standard ALPHA faded green cover-alls.

What was standard for RAF helmets in the late 1950's and early 1960's? White or dark green?

Since the Swift was only based at German bases near the east/west border (ETNW and ETUO), a green helmet makes more sense but I could also see them using white helmets.

*- I'm using the sound folder I came up with for the F-84/Thunderflash. If any one wants a copy, just "convo" me. :wiggle:

Im not an expert ( Im learning to White ), but check out Dave Garwoods Hunter's, contempry of the Swift and well researched, probably a more appropriate sound file also
cheers ian

Google AI (not the best choice I know) says the following when I asked this question: "RAF pilot helmet colours in German bases"

For RAF aircrew stationed in Germany (e.g., during the Cold War or modern deployments), historical and contemporary flying helmet colors follow specific eras:
WWII/Post-WWII: Mid-brown leather Type C helmets or blue-grey Type G cloth helmets.
Cold War (1970s): White Mk.2 helmets, transitioning to green Mk.3 and Mk.4 helmets.
Modern Day: Standard NATO green (general duty) or light grey for air defense fighters, often customized with squadron markings.

It seems plausible to me and the sources are attributed to this thread at 'Britmodeller.com'.
