Question of the Day (01-31-10)

~Fury of the Winds~

Walking along an empty street, you notice a wallet. The wallet contains $5000 in cash, but no name or address. What would you do?

look for a social secruity card or medical card and call the cops...if i lost 5 grand id hope someone took the extra steps to give it back....

No I.D. at all? Well.....it is my wifes birthday.

Honestly, I WOULD hold onto it for a couple of weeks to see if anyone filed a report or plea for help. Five grand could easily make or break someones life.
After that, I would have to consider myself fortunate.

Keep it.

How much is $5000 anyway?

http://www.xe.com/

£3,126.95!!!

Bank the 3 grand with no guilt at all and spend the £126.95 on Payware, feeling guilty that I'd probably wasted my money.

Turn it into the cops... it's virtually unclaimable without ID. One year later... all mine without any qualms, guilt or legal hangups.

Found a wallet once with $1286.00 (10's, 20's, 3 5's and a single Loonie), 22 individually packed pills and 14 little baggies of white powder. The cop who collected it just filled out the paperwork and handed me the cash... that wallet was NEVER getting claimed. :)

Yikes!

Understandably so.....

The cop was very friendly, and quite helpful... He genuinely seemed very concerned about finding the owner of the wallet! He seemed quite upset there was no ID. :)

i'd take the $$ and run straight to the nearest crack dealer :icon_lol:

ok, actually, to tell the truth i would give it to the wife to put towards the trip we are saving up for

I'd hand it it, don't even have to think about it, police take your name if it's unclaimed after a while as said before it's yours, no legal hangups... then again i could do with a holiday...:icon_lol:

That cop thingy there.

Need to be *that* fair.
I lost the keys to my mom's car once in the parking lot near my appartment, but didn't realize it until the next morning. Scrambled there to find the car still there with a note stuck under one of the wipers that someone found the keys next to the driver's door and took it to the police. Went there, filled out the paper work, got the keys back, made a relieved thank-you call to the lady who found it. Hooray for at least a bit of honesty.

Well, yeah, I'd turn it in, I'd turn the money into a pillowcase and never say a word to anyone, just my private stash.

The wallet, I'd toss that, never used one in 63 years.

My German teacher in high school lost several thousand dollars(I can't remember the exact amount) he was transferring to a new bank. He withdrew the money then went to the movies with his wife and when they got home they realized the money was gone.

If I found the money, I'd probably make a charitable donation to clear my conscious, then keep the rest.

Turn into the police.....just like Opie did on that episode of The Andy Griffith show when he found a wallet with $50 in it......:d

Which reminds me, has anyone found a small black bag stuffed with $100 bills??? I seem to have misplaced mine....:icon_lol: I recently won the Publisher's Clearing house sweepstakes and left it on the roof of my car when I left the bank. Honest....no kidding.....okay, it may not have been the PCH sweepstakes...:icon_lol:

Turn it in, no qeustion about it..

i have done just that before...

For the rest of your life:
The feel-good of handing it in to the police would so far outweigh the momentary blip in your bank balance...
It is no contest.
