Quiz Time Name this Aircraft

I hope you don't mind if I throw in an aircraft.
A friend has one of these out behind his hanger, waiting to be restored.
I could swear that just saw one of these in a documentary recently, and that it actually flew well! Now if I can just remember the name...

Yep, Sikorsky S43.. Way to go guys. Just wanted to see if you were as sharp as I thought you were. No doubt about it. :jump:

The aircraft appearing on the LIFE magazine cover appears to have a twin tail. I don't see any further evidence of another aircraft behind the one in the forefront due to camera angle. It was possibly an early production model.

I expect you're right...as the second pic shows the same model with a bigger tailplane...a 'prettier' solution than the proto's 'afterthought'...;)

In post #7 - what's in the bag ? The Norden bomb sight. Hence the two 'tommy gunners" guarding it.

EDIT: Uh finally read post #8.

Bugatti 100 racer (1939!!), I have read an article about it a few years ago where some guys wanted to resurrect the design. Great and radical looking aircraft.
[Edit: found it again. The Bugatti 100P racer replica is supposed to fly in mid october this year for the first time!]

Another 1939 prototype. I took a shot of an unusual aircraft in the Le Bourget Air and Space Museum, Paris.
So here's my proposal (an easy one for our french friends, I suppose):

The Leduc 010 ramjet prototype.

I recently read an article about these ones. There were several tested, launched from piggiback arrangements:

Exactly! That was fast.

Here's another shot of the hall with the 010. Amazing design, way ahead if it's time. The other aircraft in the back was even more radical.
