Thanks to all for the help getting this model to a temp folder. After it unpacked I copied it to another temp folder and uninstalled the original to get it out of the registry. I see no reason for an aircraft model to be in the registry.

Does anyone know what the loud explosion is if you turn on the nav lights with the L key on the ground? It's not in the aircraft sound file so it must be a gauge calling it from the main sound folder.

Last question, is it possible to fix the prop blur so you can see smoke and exhaust flame through it? As it is the prop blocks all this.

Terry, It sounds like one of the default sounds, located within the main fs 'SOUND' folder could be the root of the problem.
It may have been replaced with a new aircraft install - one good reason why none of us like running installers straight to fs9!!!

You'll have to do a rather tedious check through the sounds until you find the same sound as you're hearing.
Then replace or rename the sound wav.

I say this because I used exactly that method for the F-4 Phantom soundpack to obtain afterburn sounds.

I hope this is of some help.

With all due respect to Nigel, the explosion sounds are activated by the effect files for the exhausts. All you need to do is find the four exhaust files in the effects folder, and edit the lines as follows (always save a copy of the original files just in case):

//Sound=5
//Sound Param=4

As for the prop blur, I never noticed the effects until you mentioned it. The prop blur textures do not seem to have an alpha channel which may be the cause. There are replacement textures by Tommy Mitomi on Avsim, but I haven't tried them yet to see if they make a difference with the newer version on the Mitchell.

Thanks for the help with the explosions, they were not really a problem but I was curious as to what was happening.

The new B-25 has about 6 texure files relating to the prop. The Tommy Mitomi file only has 2 and the names don't match so I'll wait and see if someone who knows more than me gets it corrected.

Much thanks for eliminating the afterburner sounds WarHorse47!

Is there a work around for that black message screen and constant re-occuring time-out waiting for the guages to re-load? Or am I and Navtech the only ones seeing this particular issue with the instrument guages?

After about three time out re-load cycles it finally gives up loading the panel guages completely leaving you to fly without any visible guages in 2D or VC panels.

Same here, Aircraft relegated to Maintenance Hangar to await a fix.

Guys, I downloaded this newest version this weekend with no problems. I opened the exe file into a temp folder without any prep (fake fs9exe, etc), copied and pasted the files into my Golden Wings version and away I went.

The only black screen I get is on initial load up waiting on Gauges to fully load, just as the instructions warn. I've had no reoccurrences of this black screen during flight after the initial load. Longest flight has been about 45 minutes uninterrupted.

My system: XP SP3; intel core i7 930 @ 2.8 ghz; 3GB DDR3 RAM; ATI 4587 HD Extreme 1GB

Thanks for that Duckie. I'll try uninstalling and re-install. I also just realized my Windows 7 Home Pemium is a 64 bit system. That may be what the problem is. I had installed the one fro 32 Bit.

Thanks

Hope you get it squared away, Phantomx. This model is a good flier and, for me at least, the VC made it a keeper.

:salute:

I emailed Roy on the prop transparency issue. He checked it out and said to simply delete or rename the following two files. RCS_B25FW_BLADE_BLURRED_BACKT.BMP and RCS_B25FW_BLADE_BLURRED_T.BMP.

I tried it and it solves the problem.
