RAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge 1955-1962 FS9 - RAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge AB (EGVJ/EGVG) 1955-1962

This scenery covers both of the dual airbases of RAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge. These two bases operated as a single command of the USAFE 81st Fighter Bomber Wing and flying squadrons 91st, 92nd and 78th. Woodbridge hosted the 78th Fighter squadron while the 91st and 92nd were based at Bentwaters (Headquarters) . Scenery and various aircraft paints by Ian Elliot, Traffic by Al Von Pingel and additional aircraft paints by Deltadart. Enjoy

I just want to make clear that although this has gone up in my name, this is very much a joint project with AVP and Patrick, so any appreciation should be sent in their direction too. And its worth your while to install all the ac as we have some other goodies in the pipeline in the near future
Stay tuned folks :)

Excellent! I love the early cold war / classic era! With a little fiddling with static models and AI I'll have versions in FS1954 and FSJetAge, early and middle Cold War. The planes I saw flying overhead when I was a kid, and at open days at our local SAC base. :ernaehrung004:

Mick;
:biggrin-new:

The Maine ANG flew 101's out of Bangor when I was growing up along with the 509th BW at Pease flying FB-111's.
My big question is, where did that guy get the North American jacket?
I promise, no more thread hi-jacks.

Some of the best open days I ever attended were at Pease! All sorts of planes would show up for static and flying displays, current USAF types and warbirds like the CAF's B-24 and B-29. Even saw some RAF types like Victor tankers.

Say Ian, when I'm on take off roll at Woodbridge, runway 8 I'm getting Telephone poles crossing the runway. I'm not sure if it's something I have done or something else.

It may have to do with your settings for scenery complexity. There is a "fix" over at CalClassics for them since this happens at various places where the complexity of the autogen is maxed out.

Just scroll down on the following link:

CalClassic's Scenery Page

It's under the "pesky telephone poles" line a little down the page.

Just follow the instructions in there and you should be okay. ;)

Hope you got things sorted, There's an exclude in the ground poly and in the ADE bgl, but occasionally, something gets through, and as im not a fan of the autogen, i only have it on sparse or occasionally normal, so sometime's i dont notice

No worries!

It should work since it's a modified terrain.cfg file. It removes the poles from the roads as a whole. For PW I'm doing the same thing, but also including the other stuff as well (highway signs, for example).

Sometimes when you exclude the roads, it doesn't exclude ALL the roads or their aspects. I remember reading somewhere that in order to exclude the roads completely you have to ensure you have more than half of the thing included in the exclude, which in and of itself is almost impossible. The cfg change was probably the best way to do it.

I can't remember who came up with it, but it's something that works with any aspect controlled by the terrain.cfg file. If you want to change out the "modern" power lines with telephone poles to represent "older" power posts -- for example -- you just swap out the GUID with the one for the telephone poles. I haven't gotten to try it yet, but it should be possible.

Interesting, theoretically you could swap out all the objects with one's you like, although it would be a mamouth task, and i'd get board very quickly.
ORBX did a replacement package for FSX that looks very attractive,i guess thats how they did it

Worked great. I thought I'd had every thing by now but I missed this one somehow! The scenery is stunning Ian, I decided to take a Jeep tour around the base just to view it all.
