RAF Bradwell Bay WIP

Hi all,
This is RAF Bradwell Bay, Essex something I've been working on and hope to have It finished soon. Didn't realise how much work was involved! especially placing the facilities, now I know just how much work some people put into this sort of thing.
I still need to do some tweaking with the grass to get the colour right, finish the winter textures including a FIDO system for foggy conditions and finish off placing the facilities. Will just have to stop painting this Spit thats taken me a week to get the rivets right! you can just see them near the leading edge of the wing and only just! each rivet is made up of 5 layers but is it worth all the effort? Big thanks to Pat Patel for his valuable help and his tutorials.

Hi HTPCorsica,
nice work! Just want to check one thing: are you using GMax to place facilities?

I ask because there is another program available which allows buildings, vehicles, etc to be easily placed in a facility. Might save you a bit of time? Its called CFS3 Mission Editor, but it edits facilities too. The program was developed by Richard Eikeland, and used to be hosted on the Korean Skies website. Not sure where it has shifted to. I can provide if necessary.

Wish I could upload it here at SOH but that might step on some toes?? Mid - what do the mods think about uploading it?

It's been great watching this come together Tony and now getting near the end it's looking superb. :salute:

I like the Spit too very much, definately worth it!

Hi David, thanks for your reply, I would very much like to try this program, I looked for it by searching but can't find anything so if you could send it to me that would be an enormous help, my email is antsfur@hotmail.com
I'm using gmax and so far its doing ok for the facilities, I have put all ACC facilities on there now with boxes the right size, so all I have to do is clone them and place in the right areas.
When offlanders first came out they had a tool for doing this too, and said it would be made available but wasn't. Thanks and look forward to using it.

I've just changed my settings and found that I was running eto at 1024 in the config. for aircrafts max texture and have now changed it to 4096 which is needed to display 2048 textures. So hopefully this should make a difference. Question If I have MAW installed as well, will the config setup automatically work for MAW without having to adjust it for that sim?

Thanks to all for your kind comments.

...You have to adjust the config for each and every install...
That is the most complex airfield I've ever seen... And it looks fantastic! I'm looking forward to Take offs, :engel016:landings and taxiing about... The Spit looks lovely as well... Which model are you using?

Thank you so much for all your hard work!!:medals::icon29::guinness:

Hi HTPCorsica,
I will try your address. Unfortunately when I tried emailing the zip file to HH's address, the server rejected the attachment - hopefully hotmail will be more tolerant, however it is 3Mb and contains exe files within the zip.

Looks like I'll have to pester the moderators again about whether it is Kosher to upload at SOH - I'm not sure who I should contact for permission?

David

Hi David,
I got it, thanks very much for all your troubles with hotmail, I will install it sat afternoon and let you know how I get on.
Many thanks again, cheers, Tony

You can copy and paste your reconfigured/edited configOveride.xml in the ETO app/data folder to your other theater install app data folders. Therefore you do not have to go through the tedious process of running config.exe in each of your installs.

Great job on the airfield.

Bob

Congratulations

Well Done HTPCorsica, i cycled round it last september but never realized it had three runways & was so BIG ! Thank you for another Essex Airfield. By the way Will there be a control tower? The real one is some bodys home now!

Hi Gosd,
I've been away for the last 3 weeks in France and been busy with the summer things etc, but hope to find some time now to do the finishing touches to have the correct a/c for the ERAs and then prepare the upload package. So not much to do now. Sorry for the long wait and what I've done so far looks good.

...more than happy to wait for as long as it takes! BTW, in what era have you pictured this amazing airfield? -also, would it be possible to get a screenie/close-up of these 5 layer rivets? -Plus, didn't the Spit have 'flush' rivets?
--thanx in advance from your friendly neighborhood pain in thee neck (lol) :engel016:
