RAF North Killingholme

IanP

Didn't quite escape.
Just in case everyone is bored of the A2A B-17 by now (Lewis! Put that brick down without throwing it!), I thought I'd try and drag some attention back to the RAF instead and potentially Dan's / FCS's Lancaster package.

RAF North Killingholme opened in 1943 as home to 550 Squadron, who remained the sole user of the station flying Lancasters until the end of the war, when it closed.

I made this scenery by request of someone whose father was based at the station with 550Sq, so I hope I've done it justice for him! (To the best of my knowledge, Dick doesn't visit/post here, so I'll have to find that out by e-mail.)

Anyway. I've attached as many screenshots as I'm allowed to, below. The file is available immediately, but I haven't put up a page for it yet as I have to run out the door in the general direction of Warwick and my neice, who has just hit double figures and needs a present and card delivering.

Oh, one thing. Well, two. The AI Lancasters and Austin K2Ys in the screenshots are not included in the package. The Austin K2Ys are mine and pretty naff. I haven't uploaded them yet until I stop being embarrassed by them! The Lancasters are A2A's, from the FS9 Wings of Power package. That's no longer available, but if anyone wants to run them, the bgl file is available and I'll post a link on request. They don't do much - they were just put in to test that all the holds and taxiways worked... Which they didn't. They do now!

Great stuff Ian, I dont mind at all when it comes to these things. 550 was based at GY whilst it was re-formed with the lancs before moving up the road to Killingholme.

Ian is right - I don't often visit or post here, but purely by chance I did so today ! In answer to his question, I think his NK is excellent. Sadly my dad isn't around to verify the details, but I'm certainly enjoying flying into it (along with Ian's other airfields of course !)

Thanks Ian - keep up the good work. Mepal next perhaps ?
