RAF Thorney Island and Rougham Airfield released

Hi guys,
The sceneries I have been previewing have now gone up at my web page and also FlightSim.com.

http://www.arm-computers.co.uk/html/trevor.html

For RAF Thorney Island, you need Horizon GenX Vol1 and for Rougham you need to have GenX Vol2. Loads of eye candy, including AI boats sailing around the channels.

Rougham stages a famous airshow, if you have Acceleration Pack fitted, you have a full airshow addition too.

Both files have custom autogen, but require you to download some free library files too. Full instructions and links included.

I was going to add this to my last announcement as it was sticky, but it came un-stuck today:icon_lol::icon_lol:

Here is the first WIP shot of my next project, Oxenhope, a VERY challenging little airfield situated on top of a steep hill in the middle of the famous 'Bronte Country' in Yorkshire.

The airfield runway (s) are squeezed between a farmhouse and a holiday park, seen below. Leaving the runway, the land drops away in a 'stomach churning' manner too!!!!!

Great masterpiece's there mate. Top Notch! :icon29:

If the UK2000 crew don't mind, do you reckon that you could add some of that terrific airshow scenery to some of their airfields? Some crowds/static planes/cars/and marquees added to Duxford, Biggin Hill, Fairford, Farnborough, Yeovilton, or my favourite, Shoreham, would be AMAZING!!!

I am not sure about all of those, but I do have permission from Garry at UK2000 to do the airshow sceneries:ernae:.

They are on my list to do. Gary says that one file will do both Horizon and default sceneries too.

I want to check out more aircraft models, so it will take me a few weeks to do, maybe I will do two or three airshows in one DL.

Thanks, any diagrams like that are a big help, although I know Shoreham well, I have not been into airshows since the RAF stopped paying me for going to them.......without the traffic jams and FREE!

Sorry, these pictures aren't aerial, so they don't give away the layout, but are good to see close-ups of the Flightline etc.
A friend of my father's was displaying the red-nosed, two seat spitfire on the day, so allowed us onto the flightline and showed us around airside.

BTW has anyone done some scenery of the famous Chapel opposite the airfield???

The chapel is part of Lancing College, a public school. It appeared in an FS2004 scenery by Just Flight, but I have no idea if they updated it for FSX.

Thanks for the photos, remember you have to have FSX plus Acceleration Pack to see everything, I think SP2 users may have some parts, but not the crowd.

No airshow shots yet, as I wanted to finish most of the work on Oxenhope first.

This has got to be the trickiest airfield in the UK to fly in and out of! Stone walls, powerlines, trees and even houses:isadizzy:, these are all present in the approaches to the runways (and all modelled).

Add to that the fact that it is the highest airfield in England and it becomes a real challenge of the average PPL holder. I would suggest it is perfect for any Cub owner! If you fly twins, I suggest you do not even attempt to get in here.

It should be out before the Christmas holidays.

Looking good! Did you use FenceBuilder for the walls??
No mate, I still have the 20 euros in my pocket! They are free walls (and fences) and layed by hand (more still to come, as you can see), I have mixed them up a bit in places (different sizes), as no stone wall in Yorkshire that I know of, is totally uniform and regular.

Fencebuilder seems to be best for 'regular and uniform' structures, from what I have seen.

Now, if someone made an easy to use 'flatten and blend' terrain tool, that I would pay for!!!

Hey how's it going? Don't want to bug you, sorry, but have you started to look at airshow scenery yet?

Don't mean to annoy you, but I can't wait for this, I know you'll do it great!

BTW would you like any more diagrams of A/S layouts?

I have just got back from a visit to the UK (Freezing!!!!), but I intend to have something done in the next few days.

Just out of intrest, would you be doing a FS9 version of Thorny, its a bit of a favorite airfield of mine, i did one myself a few years back but its a bit long in the tooth now, so ive put it back on my to-do list, esp as i like using Ted Andrew's RAF buildings, but i do like the look of yours and i think i read over at CBFS that you may consider it.
all the best, ian

Hi Ian,
I have FS9 still installed (just) so may take a look, the trouble is making default (FSX and FS9) sceneries requires even more learning! It's been a steep curve to get the hang of doing Horizon sceneries over the past couple of months, from scratch. It may happen, but I cannot put a timespan on it!

I am happy to donate anything I have here to you (ADE9X source code for example), if you want to have a go yourself first.
