Raid On Tarawa Mission Question

Hello Everybody,

I have recently been flying the stock U.S. campaign. I've gotten to the mission 'Raid On Tarawa' flying the
Hellcat and can't seem to win it. Supposedly I'm supposed to "Strafe and Rocket Tarawa", but I've done that
several times bombing, rocketing, and strafing both ground structures and the runway itself, but the mission
doesn't end up in success. What am I missing, please? It has been a few years since my last play through,
so if it's something obvious, I apologize in advance.

Thanks,
DG

Unload all of your bombs/rockets and gun ammo. That should make thing right.

And make sure that either the AI alpha strike force or your escorting flight eliminate AA-Guns 1, AA-Guns 2, and AA-Guns 3. I never wait for the AI bombers to do this because i want them to survive as my escort package. As soon as we all arrive at the initial point, i target these objects and send my guys to attack them while i cover them against any air threats or vice versa. Its better that the wingmen do this because they have unlimited gun ammo and very good aim when strafing small targets under fire.

For the "Turning Up the Heat on Tarawa" mission you need to leave Tarawa with no rockets and have less than 300 round left for the guns.
