Rami: a question?

Shadow Wolf 07

SOH-CM-2025
I am loading an East Front install and I have a question for you or anyone else: Which scenery packs do you recommend I use, the JHS Russia or the EFSP_01 thru 06 set? I am also considering adding the JHS East Prussia and JHS Poland packs. Are they recommended and should I add Bulgaria and/or Romania or any others too? :isadizzy: Thanks... SW07

Shadow Wolf 07,

I will answer tomorrow afternoon. I have to get to bed...I have to attend the sunrise service at 6:30 and then cook breakfast for 300+ people on Easter morning.

Shadow Wolf 07,

Yes. The Eastern Front has a mix of airfields from Achim27619, Ajax, and Canion. (The airfields in Finland by Sander De Cocq are in the process of being moved and redone)

Also, check carefully within Ajax's Eastern Front packages. One of the packages contains an airfield at Sebastopol which can no longer be used, due to Rhumba's new watermasks, and Ajax's fields at Orel and Kharkov (I think) interfere with the Kursk airfields by Canion.

You can keep the same ETO textures by Sander if you copy them into the root TEXTURE folder.

Here's the airfields for you...

Ajax's bases...

ESP 02: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5966 (Non-GSL, it's on my list of things to correct...)

ESP 03: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5967

ESP 04: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5968

ESP 05: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5981

ESP 06: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5982

His airfields are simplistic, but work exceptionally well in the "rustic" OstFront.

Achim's bases...

Poland: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=3355

Romania: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=3356

Soviet Union: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=3343

East Prussia: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=3353

Bulgaria: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=15423

Achim is also currently redoing some of the airfields in Poland right now. (The ones which have the older, green bitmaps that would work with the stock textures)

Canion's bases...

Kursk airfields: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4546

Warning: These airfields blend very well into the background. Don't blink, or you'll miss them!

Here are some of the airfields I have for testing in Poland.

I can send you the files I have for Leningrad and Finland, but it's still in the developmental stages...

Thank you...

As I recall Kharkov and Orel are indeed fairly close to Kursk and were the first major cities liberated after the battle. I have already put in Achim's JHS_RU, E Prussia and Poland. but am still not clear. Do I put in Ajax's and Canion's bases also? If so, I will look for the one with Sevastopol and avoid the ones with Kharkov and Orel. I notice you did not include EFSP_01 in your list - omitted for a reason? I'm happy that you pointed out the need for the ETO textures. FYI: Orel in Russian is pronounced "Ahr-yol" it translates as "the eagle" or just "eagle."

Greg,

Yes, you put them in. Just make up a backup of your GSL file when you do Ajax's Eastern Front scenery pack 03, because that's the one where you'll have to remove the GSL gobs for Orel / Kharkov. You'll want to use Canion's fields instead for those two places.

Done... Thank you very much. :salute:

Good evening,

Here are two new airfields...Warsaw and the Warsaw "reserve" airfield. :salute:

Greg,

Yes. You can tell the difference in the bitmaps...the ones which blend into Sander's scenery are the current standard; the others stick out like a sore thumb.
