Kurt, I need some help please!

Good morning, Cap'n!

In the interest of using the best equipment available, I am sorting through my Late ETO missions to include your Fw-190 models. I am trying to limit the amount of Fw-190s I use (mainly the Anton-5 and -8 models) to several Jagdgeschwaders in the West...JG 1, 2, 5, 26, and 27.

With regard to the "fighter" versions, that's easy-peasy. I've been able to do that flawlessly. I also came across your revision of the "Dora" that completely escaped me, and reconciled your .dp file with kelti's .dp mod so that I can still use her in a "jabo" configuration. Kudos galore on that one!

However, with regard to the Fw-190 Anton "jabo" versions, I am thoroughly bewildered. :dizzy: I noticed that there are so many choices and configurations that I don't know where to start. So, I boiled it down to two questions.

1) Could you or someone else on Team Daedalus please provide a listing of these weapons and what they do? (i.e. the difference between an "SC" and "SD" bomb)

2) Since I am by no means a weapons expert, what type of bombs would be most effective for specific mission scenarios? (Attacking a bomber formation is obvious, but I'm thinking about attacking tanks, submarines, shipping, stationary ground targets, etc.)

I double-checked the information found in your readmes, but didn't see the answers to these questions. If you or other members of Team Daedalus could please provide some clarification, it would be appreciated.

No nit-picking here...I love the work, I just want to be able to use it properly!

German Ordnance.

I have a PDF file of the US tech manual on German ordnance, I'll load it up and see what it might have to say about bombs vs. missions. I doubt there will be much, itt's more about identification than anything else. There were so many different types that did much the same job, it IS confusing.

Hi Rami,

Simply put, the SC class bombs were general purpose and the SD class bombs were armor piercing - also used against hardened targets like concrete bunkers.

The kopfring was added to the SC bombs to keep it from digging into the ground before detonating in order to increase the blast effect. The SC wasser was an anti ship weapon.

The AB weapon was an antipersonnel or soft skinned vehicle bomb that scattered fragmentation bombs over the target area.

And thank you for the compliments - Paul, Gary and I worked hard and long on the Fw190 project.

I received RAF Driffield yesterday morning; accordingly, Sealion Kampfgeschwader is now finished with the new mission included, and I also completed the Spitfire intercept of the Driffield raid.
 
For all Mosquito fans out there...

Good morning,

I could use some help on something while I am taking a break from air files. Kdriver has brought to my attention that there are numerous historical anomalies in the Mosquito Squadron campaign, and since it is the last ETO campaign I will be overhauling, I wanted to do some corrections on the historical accuracy and give some of you the opportunity to suggest famous Mosquito raids that you would like to fly. The Amiens Prison mission has also been corrected, because there were AI attack issues with that mission.

Some of the new missions I have done for Mosquito Squadron are psuedo-historical, such as the raids on Augsburg by Lancasters, the raid on Le Creusot by Lancasters, and Operation Hydra, the RAF raid on Peenemunde.

With regard to the original missions however, there are several historical problems I am in the process of rectifying. Some raids are reasonably correct....the "Cathridge" raid, for example, is reasonably accurate, except the location of the base has been corrected to the Picardy section of France. The mission on the Amiens Prison is also reasonably correct.

One wildly inaccurate mission was the Oslo Gestapo raid. This has been corrected the historical date; 25 September, 1942. Another was titled "The Luftwaffe over England," further research indicated this was actually Operation Steinbock. The two U-boat attack missions have also been corrected from their inaccurate locations off of Heligoland Bight and the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt Delta. One took place off of Bergen on 26 May, 1944 against U-958, the other was 27 March, 1944 off of La Pallice, France.

To increase the historical authenticity, I would like to hear suggestions about missions that you would like to fly from the Operational History of the Mosquito in Europe.

First operations of the type would be as good a place as any to start. ;)
This was by aircraft of 105 Sqn from Horsham St. Faith (now Norwich Airport) on 31 May 1942, the day after Cologne 1000 raid.

I think I sent you some information on Operation 'Oyster', the Eindhoven attack of 6 December '42?

First Pathfinder 'Mossie' Sky target marking 31 Dec '42/1 Jan '43 on Dusseldorf.

The daylight Berlin raids of 30 January 1943 which disrupted Goerings' and Goebbels' speeches.
Also the night raid by 8 Mossies on 20/21 April 1943 to deliver Hitlers' birthday presents from the RAF.

23/24 February 1944 692 Sqn drops first 4000lb 'Cookie' on Dusseldorf

How about this for mad: Skip-bombing delayed action 4000lb bombs into railway tunnels at between 100 and 200 ft. New Years Day 1945

The La Pallice attack involved two U-boats: U-769 and U-960. Two Tsetses escorted by 6 FB.VIs

Yes, I am aware of these missions...the issue is getting a hold of a multi-lod Lockheed Ventura. Milton Shupe is making one for FS9...but it's not multi-lod. I was hoping that a CFS2 member would like to take up the challenge of obtaining the source files and having a go at making her into a multi-lod bird. :redfire:
