Rami's mission & scenery thread

Reply...

Mario,

Here is the second-to-last mission...this one is a simultaneous torpedo attack from the north and the south.

"title_string"=Operation Mezzagosto - Pedestal Pincer movement
"summary_string"=Attenzione, i piloti! Several attacks on this convoy have been repulsed because of its heavy defenses. We are going to split our forces & have them come in from opposite directions. We hope that this will confuse the British and allow at least one group to succeed. Focus your torpedo attacks on the enemy merchants & the two aircraft carriers. Get in, get hits, and get home!
"objective_string"=Just five short minutes after the first wave of ten Sm-84 torpedo bombers & eight bomb-laden Cr-42 Falcos, a total of forty Sm-79 and Sm-84 torpedo bombers, escorted by about twenty-six Re-2001s, closed in on the Pedestal convoy from the port and starboard side. Once again, because of the strong anti-aircraft reaction, not a single hit was scored!
"intelligence_string"=After taking off, you will fly east of the convoy's estimated location and then swing 'round to strike the ships from the south, while the Sm-79 torpedo bombers will simultaneously raid this convoy from the north. During this mission, you're targeting the merchant ships. or if you get a clear shot, the two remaining aircraft carriers. If we can destroy the air cover, the convoy will not survive very long!
"player_aircraft_name_string"=Savoia-Marchetti Sm-84
"airfield_string"=Sardinia - Decimomanu

Mario,

Here we go, the final mission..it has been timed, but I still have to do the dynamic elements for it...(I completed this mission tonight, yay!)

"title_string"=Operation Mezzagosto - Ferry run to Pantelleria
"summary_string"=Kameraden, zuhören! Your Sturzkampfgeschwader is being transferred from Sardinia to Pantellaria. Since you are going to be flying close to the area where a massive assault is being planned, you have been asked to participate in this coordinated raid. Several flights coming in from multiple directions will attempt to attack the fleet at about the same time. Get over the fleet, attack the enemy carriers and merchants, then continue along to Pantelleria, where we will continue pounding the enemy ships!
"objective_string"=Another massive air attack started at about 18:15 with aircraft coming from the Sicilian & Sardinian bases, including eight Italian Ju-87 Stukas with a fighter escort of ten Macchi Mc-202s, as well as fourteen Sm-79s escorted by seventeen Mc-202s, and twenty Luftwaffe Stukas escorted by Bf-109g fighters. These Stukas scored three hits on HMS Indomitable while the torpedo bombers scored one on DD Foresight.
"intelligence_string"=After taking off, you will meet up with the escort flight and head southeast toward the enemy ships. Once you're over the convoy, your primary targets are the two remaining aircraft carriers, as well as the merchant ships. Numerous other flights will be in the area, so it is critical to keep your head on a swivel over the convoy. You can also be certain to encounter enemy fighters over the vessels, but you are being sent out with heavy fighter escort. Once finished, continue on to Pantelleria.
"player_aircraft_name_string"=Junkers Ju-87b 'Stuka'
"airfield_string"=Sardinia - Elmas

Another theatre's reworks and updates done...

Hey guys,

After some three years of working in the Mediterranean on various overhauls and updates, I can now close the book on any reworks in this theatre as the bulk of my campaign work. I have some minor tweaking to do for Desert Air Force, Operation Mezzagosto / Pedestal, and Beaus in the Sand, but all the major updating work is now completed. (All of which will be released within a few weeks)

I should have a beta testing package for Shadow Wolf and others ready on Monday.

Just to recap, here's a listing of the campaigns available for the Mediterranean...

Hellas campaign
Heinkels campaign
Fleet Air Arm campaign
Operation Mezzagosto
Operation Pedestal
Beaus in the Sand
Malta Spitfire
Operation Exporter
Operation Juggler (Single mission)
Operation Tidal Wave (Single mission)
Western Desert - 1942
The Tuskegee Airmen
RAF Vs Regia Aeronautica
Italians in War

The last theatre to get this kind of treatment will be the Eastern Front, but I am in no mood to work on those missions right now. I want to work on my stuff!

After tying up some loose ends, I will focus my energy on three major projects...

20th Fighter Group
The Balkan Theatre - 1941 (RAF, Luftwaffe, Greece, Italy)
Mediterranean missions by Dombral

A Herculean effort Rami!

Take some time and have some fun. It'll take us quite a while to get through your latest work so time is of no concern.

Ha ! it is geting better! more and more action!
I'm starting to be worried about scenery, but if there was changes please let us know. I hope to be in the beta testers!:jump:
I C A N T W A I T!!!!!

Well... It looks like we have some more than one thousand flight hours to enjoy!! :jump:Thanks for updating and enriching all those campaigns Rami.

Take your time, and most important, enjoy what you are doing!:mixedsmi:

Cheers, Discus:salute:

Awesome Rami! :salute:

Will you update your install guide so we can make sure we get all the scenery and installed correctly? It would be a great help to many including me.

Kurt,

Yeah, I might need to do that for Pantelleria and Morocco.

Operation Mezzagosto beta testing...

Good morning,

I am happy to announce that Operation Mezzagosto is ready for a thorough beta test run. I have three people in mind to beta test this...kdriver, misson, and Shadow Wolf 07.

If anyone else would like to volunteer, let me know. For Shadow Wolf 07 and Misson, please send me a PM with your e-mail.

You will receive a complete package with a hyperlinked readme, and all tweaked files included. The amount of objects you need is fairly light, and if you still have the Pedestal campaign handy, the aircraft and ships are literally identical.

For Mezzagosto, you don't need to install Malta, but the trade-off is that you need to install Gibraltar and Pantelleria.

As far as the missions are concerned, you fly a relatively equal mix of bombers and fighters, and the fighters covered are the Dewoitine D-520, Fiat Cr-42 Falco, Macchi Mc-202 Folgore, and the Messerschmitt Bf-109g-2 Gustav. The bombers covered are the Junkers Ju-88a-11, Heinkel He-111, Junkers Ju-87 Stuka, and the Savoia-Marchetti Sm-84 torpedo bomber.

One of the reasons I chose you guys is you provide feedback and you don't sugar-coat things. This is the constructive criticism needed to make it better, so I thank you in advance for helping me with this!

Kdriver and Shadow Wolf 07,

While you guys are chewing on this set, I'll use your notes and go back to work on the Western Desert campaign, making the final tweaks for release.

Misson pointed out a problem...

Hey guys,

Misson's PM reminded me of a problem with the Spitfire and Fulmar by Brunosk. It is not with the aircraft itself, it is with the panel.cfg in both aircraft. There are two gauge files that cause stuttering issues with framerates. I have addressed this problem in the past, but I have two options on fixing it.

1) Provide a revised panel.cfg with the troublesome gauge removed...

2) Fix the aircraft themselves.

To fix this problem, here is the thread that explains the problems with the panel.cfg: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?33393-Fulmar-is-up&highlight=Fulmar

It's the same problem for the Spitfire.

Let me know the best way to proceed so we can tidy-up this problem upon release.
