RAZBAM A-7E Repaints

OK Gents,

Finally got all my proggys installed on the new machine and have already completed a bare template. Now I am not an expert painter by any means...those that know me and have the stuff I did for FS9 and the DSB corsie liked them just fine, so expect the same with my FSX stuff. I will take requests for navy planes. Pete Ward gets the very first job. Pete and I are both retired sluf sailors, my tenure was VA-195 Dambusters from Lemoore circa 1980 to 1984. Pete and I also used to fly hops in fs9 pre-DSB days. The RAZBAM bird is the finest to date, I doubt I will ever own another. I hope to get a low vis skin going here shortly, and will be painting me, err...alma mater squadron aircraft along with a few others from lemoore. In the meantime, shoot your requests and I will do them providing I have the correct reference materials to do so. Happy sluffing!

I can paint that on the tailcone, LOL. I have the fs9 version...cant wait for the FSX version...so is there a repaint request in there somewhere or what? Halfway finished with me first paint...done in a couple hours...yes, I can do a repaint quickly when I have the refs LOL.

I was hoping no one would notice LOL...wanted to do something special for the skipper, so I used the CAG paint for his dedication aircraft...I would love to, let me see what I can find for the green bird reference

Well, that was quick...getting old, then I remembered something...you ever have one of them days?

Anywho...when I reported aboard 195 on June 1st, 1980, the only aircraft that had the old chippy bird was double nuts (cag)...the rest only had the airwing identifiers (NH) and they remained that way until early 83 when we did the very first low-vis paint in the Navy. By that time we had gone to CVW15 and then CVW9 just in time for a Ranger deployment (CV-61)

Hey, we were in Lemoore at the same time (VA-94, 1982-1985) Here's some pics from the 1982/83 cruise aboard CVN-65 (The BIG-E), and you can see the "low vis" grey boring paint schemes just starting to show up. Like weeds... :)

VA-22 also...hey shipmate! I know, we planted the weed...and you know what they say about planting a single weed...LOL

Outstanding! Thank you!
:ernae:

Will definitely be picking these up when you get them posted, WH. Great paints.

I wish they were great LOL, I have still not learned painting in layers, so I get the run with colors and such when I put on the icing...As long as you don't get too close, you won't notice, but thank you!

Yeah I saw that but it's in Lo-Viz and assigned to the FID, what I'm looking for is one like in the pic and SARATOGA on the fuselage. As to fueling the A-6, it took me about five minutes to learn and I still remembered how to when I had my grandson with me on the Midway last year.

Really? its not described that way...shoot me all the reference pics you can find and then I will do yours after I do Petes..I assume you have the model? ;)

This is the NATC Paxriver bird that Pete asked me to do. Pete, you only sent me a single photo, so this is what I came up with...what else does it need?

Rich, your Pax River paint is beautiful!

Really brings back memories as a Plane Captain, ya know? It's great!

By the way, when you made P/C, did they "initiate" you? I remember being covered with duct tape, and rolled out on the flight line in a chair....leaving me to figure a way out of that....:)

Thanks again, shipmate! Pete

And here's a picture of the real life A-7E Buno 159296 at NATC Patuxent River, MD, 1979...GREAT work, Rich!!!!

and the same Buno, but in 1988. Notr the change in Modex to that of the normal fleet numbering system. Pax River used to go by the last three numbers of the aircraft Buno....

No, they took my phillips screwdriver from my tool pouch and convinced me that I had dropped it in the cockpit on a daily...had me looking for hours until they had their fun. I think I would have rather had the duct tape treatment. I see with the second pic that the red goes all the way around under the intake. Gotta fix that ;) thanks for the kind words, Chief.
