RAZBAM Hawker Tempest Mk. V

Bought the 'Hawker Heroes' pack last week and thought I'd try painting the Tempest. I managed to contact RobH and he has very kindly allowed me to use his base paint kit developed for the paints of Roland Beamont's JN751, etc. This is my rendition of a 249 Sqdn. Mk.VI based at Habbaniya, Iraq, around 1947. The RAF was undergoing a post-war rethink of markings and this is my best guess. Still a WIP

Still got lots of work to do on weathering and texturing.

PS. Am I going crazy or does the prop look as if it's been put in back to front??

Shame because it flies very well, perhaps unrealistically so??

Hmm.. it's gone through fine pitch and beyond!! I'd not noticed that before Dave.

I noticed this too when seeing a screenshot of it parked, and the engine stopped.

Pity it was never fixed! :shame:

Nice repaint btw DaveQ.

Cheers

Can we take it this project (Milviz Tempest Mk.V) is a Norwegian Blue?? The Hawker Heroes one is fine apart from the prop being put on a*** about face. Having been fortunate enough to have been given RobH's layered originals to work from, I don't really want this 249 Sqdn. paint to be the last. Should soon be up here if anyone's interested.

Btw I seem to recall an issue with the tail lights. I adjusted them to show correctly:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 4, -2.50, -0.80, 2.00, fx_vclight
light.1 = 3, 2.60, -20.20, -1.10, fx_navred
light.2 = 3, 2.60, 20.20, -1.10, fx_navgre
light.3 = 3, -20.25, -0.60, 0.70, fx_navwhi
light.4 = 3, -20.25, 0.60, 0.70, fx_navwhi

light.5 = 4, -2.50, 0.80, 2.00, fx_vclight

This is now available here. I've 'modelled' the wing root intakes that distinguish the VI from the V by adding them to the bump maps. It's the best I can do.
