RAZBAM Hawker Tempest Mk. V

Both the Helldiver and Tempest look great, must have's. I do wonder why no developer has considered the Typhoon. now that would be interesting with Accusim, with it's tendency to burst into flames! Regards, Ian.

Simple solution, ban the offfending parties. Stuff like what some people do hear is the reason why I'm not an active member. I got tired to the BS!

I don't know what to make of all this BS. There seems to have developed, here at SOH, "factions" associated with this payware developer and that payware developer, and they are at war with each other, at our expense. Digging trenches and firing vollies at each other here. Here, where we once had a motto of “let being helpful be more important than being right”. It's sad and infuriating. We, as staff, can't get in the middle of any of it without drawing fire from one of the "factions" involved. In the mean time, every developer sees nothing but the legions of members here who are out to bad-mouth them. From each of their perspectives, they are right. We can't even take the "high ground" and demand "fair play". All that does is draw fire from both parties, with accusations of favoritism. We've become "Balkanized" here, and I don't know what the answer is. You members here with axes to grind against this or that payware developer, and you know who you the hell you are, I blame you. You will be the death of this site, and a pox on your house for it.

Especialy for Steven and Dave.
As this thread is about the Tempest, if someone starts whining about other projects instead, (and who does have a reputation allready known to some for being constantly negative about a certain dev), he should look at facebook.
Why, as this person is one who already made it happen to have news no longer being posted by the dev himself, only by those who visited the FB page and willing to share it with the SOH community.
And as Tufun already has shown, you don't need to have an account just to look at the page. (thanks Tufun for that :salute:)

See previous post made by timghetta, who explained it a lot better than I did.

Cheers,
Hank

I for one would buy your stuff with this attitude. I get all my info from here and no need to go any where else, if this is not ok with you you are welcome to leave.

The aforementioned FCS payware pack included the Typhoon. As I recall, it was the least well modelled of the set, (quite significantly so) compared to the Hart, Hurricane, and Tempest - which to my taste, were splendid. I've deleted that particular model from my hangar, so I'm sorry I can't comment on it - but it looks like for a native Typhoon, the FCS is your only current option.

Hope that helps,

DL

Attitude, you say? Who are you, or any one other non-moderator, to suggest who should leave? I'm going to guess your attitude got the better of you such that by not proofreading your post, you've actually undone the very point you were trying to make - ironically, further underscoring the hypocrisy of crying foul on "attitude."

For the record - I personally don't use FB - I don't do social media full stop - SOH is my primary source of FS updates. So I accept the fact that in a Twitter/Facebook world, it may take a few hours or a day for FB updates to pop up here. And you know it will - it's not as if almost every friggin' new progress shot isn't going to be eventually reposted here by someone within hours of its appearance on FB. If some of us are disinclined towards FB, chances are it's partially because we don't live a minute-by-minute data feed lifestyle - so why I would I make the extra couple of hours or a day until the info makes its way here - a hill to die on??

Razbam is making a choice in their media strategy - whether we agree or like it - it's their choice. We can either accept their medium, with whatever pros and cons come with it, or not, with the attendant pros and cons. Given there indeed are choices, this is a pathetic non-issue over which to be arguing.

I think you might have mis-interpreted the post by Hank. He wasn't insisting that you get a Facebook account to get Razbam information, that is why this information is posted here.

What he was directing his comment to was the fact that when a Razbam post is on Sim Outhouse, there is a little bit of friction from certain people, and which they do have a Facebook accounts will say something they already know the question too. He was only defending the countless chronic aggravation from the same people. Ultimately then Razbam doesn't want to post here and tend to use Facebook, so like you said that you enjoy coming to Sim Outhouse to get information and we lose out.

Ah, I didn't know that! In that case I apologize if my remark offended you, Hank.

Support us with the Mk. V and we shall see! :icon_lol:

Jokes aside; I love the Centaur engined II. The V was chosen based on its' popularity and service in the War, as well as the availability of an external mesh to jump ahead in development time.

Making things better however is that the VC is almost identical between the II and Mk. V. No promises; but based on my personal tastes, I'm definately open to the idea of a II.

On the other hand the "next" aircraft after the eventual tempest(s) from myself in partnership with RAZBAM has however already been decided; and it should make a lot of people very happy.

I'll probably wait to see if a Centaur engined version comes along, but this is an outstanding looking project. Nice work.

You are right DL I did not proof this early this morning, I missed the "NOT" buy. And leaving is his choice, mine was only a suggestion of free choice, I am not a moderator, and the door is always open to whoever want to come and go. My first opinion that was stated was an attempt to show that we all are not connected to social media per-say and some of us relay on this site for information. I do have a FB account, that I visit maybe 4 time a year. I don't visit any of the car FB pages, only the website for information I need at the time. As you say it is their choice, but no need to slam the people here as to their choice to stay here.

What you are describing seems to be a general issue - I see this everywhere. People are getting more selfish and at the same time more aggressive towards other people trying to call them out on their rude behaviour.

I guess folks call it being assertive but I just call it offensive.

I would hate to see this site go the way of many others who gradually succumb to that type of behaviour.

But I think there is a fair number of people here who embody what is great and good in this hobby - a willingness to share freely and to look out for your wingman!

SOH forever:icon30::icon30::icon30:!

Absolutely agree, and fair enough. And as a major contributor to the SOH community through his generous and prolific painting, it's clear Hank is merely pointing to FB as an option, not to the exclusion of contributing here.

All constructive comments, let us please get back to the topic of this thread. HAWKER TEMPEST Thanks!!!!

Thanks Tom and in reply to "will the SOH succumb to this behaviour" the answer is no! We try to be as fair and down the line as we can and for the most part I believe we succeed. Tom is an excellent moderator so please help this gentleman do his job...helping to keep the SOH as our favorite port-of-call.

Now as Tom said: back to the HAWKER TEMPEST Thanks!!!!

Tempest in a tea cup ...

It was just a ...

How's that for some comic relief ... :wavey:

Back to the topic at hand ...

I'm some might know about this site ... but just in case - one of the more authoritative sites I've seen on the Tempest .... all Tempest, only Tempest, Tempest all the time ... http://www.hawkertempest.se/index.htm

Check out the "In Detail" tab - tons of drawings, profiles, photos, etc. Great stuff.

Cheers,

DL

Thanks for the link DL, great Tempest site. A quick note is the last Hawker Tempest shot down during WWII was by a Heinkel He 162 Volksjäger just before the close of hostilities. A wealth of information about the Hawker Tempest.

I had to chuckle a little .. watching the 1 hour seven minute documentary on the Tempest , ... our intrepid Kiwi flyer who at one stage had a extended stay in Canada dew to his lack of flying skills and then becomes very good at his job - doing it on the European continent ... Its when he said he was peeved the war ended cos he on his time off jumped into his aircraft the "Tempest" and flew to England for the day or weekend to be with his wife .... BUGGER ! the war ended and there was none off that anymore :icon_lol:<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

Here are some photos of the Tempest V that Kermit Weeks owns. This is the only example that ever stands the chance of flying again. The aircraft has been under restoration in England to display condition, but with the ultimate goal of getting it flying one day (so everything is being done with that in mind). Kermit has amassed a collection of four complete Napier Sabre engines, and has actively pursued Napier Sabre parts, which I'm sure they also have quite a bit of (for instance, a cache of Napier Sabre parts was just recently found in Europe, having been stored in an individuals house since WWII, and the individual who came upon them was put in contact with Kermit Weeks' guys). The major part of the goal of getting the Tempest V flying is of course getting one (or more) of those Napier Sabre engines rebuilt to full operation, which is bound to be an extremely spendy venture - there haven't been any running Napier Sabre engines since the 1950's. Kermit Weeks also owns a Tempest II, which is on static display at the Florida Air Museum. There is a Tempest II being restored to airworthy at this time in Texas (Ezell Aviation), and another Tempest II also being actively restored to airworthy in New Zealand (Pioneer Aero: http://www.pioneeraero.co.nz/).

Impressive series of photo's , so much talk about the Napier Saber engine and yet so little and so few , course the Centaurus grabbed the limelight .. but for the true Tiffie/Tempest fan simply to hear one running again would be a real cue.<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
