RE: Choose the aircraft,...sit in the cockpit

Interesting note about Convair's F-106. The plane depicted in the cockpit photo entered an uncontrolable flat spin in which the pilot ejected. Amazingly, the jet recovered on it's own and made a soft belly landing. This particular plane was repaired, and flown again.

The F-106 was designed to be flown automatically from wheels-up on takeoff to wheels-down/flare on landing. What an amazing aircraft.... years ahead of it's time.
