RE: Don't forget to vote this November 2nd

I always Vote..
I haven't ever missed the chance to Vote..Really.. True..
I think is is a Right all should exersice..:salute:

How else can we let our goverments know what we desire for our nations..
I hope all shall use this Right here in the USA to show there desires for Our Nation..

In the Netherlands we already voted in June ;). Faith in politicians and the political system is currently very low in the Netherlands and the numbers of voters too. But like the Hobbit I never missed a chance to vote.

Its a democratic right and therefore I would expect that everybody would want to use this right. I really can't understand people who complain, but don't vote.

Although our current government isn't exactly my government, I did everything in my power to get the government I would have liked to have.

Cheers,
Huub

I don't like the idea of voting being mandatory. People may well choose not to vote because they do not like any of the candidates. Why should they have to give their vote to someone they disapprove of?

This is one reason why I posted my Q. I understand where you come from with this argument however it is also the first excuse the lazy citizen trots out. It is my position that everyone should take time out of their day to actually make the trip to the polling station. If the person wants to spoil their vote then that is their right to do so, but a wasted vote is counted too and that also has power. Not turning up tells the politicians nothing.

The only elections I've missed since 1976 were when I got my absentee ballot past the date to have sent them back. That happened in 86 and 96. There has always seemed to be problems in the getting the ballots out to military personnel in time.

As for writing someone in, the past two congressional elections, my congressman was running unopposed. I wrote in my politically active brother in law's name both times in those races.

I'm with grumpos.....

Voting should not be compulsory, although I would add that not voting is also a vote.

Frankly, if you're not voting for my candidate, I don't care if you vote or not. As long as you have the option.
