RE: Film clip of B-24's being manufactured and tested @ Willow Run MI.

Hi All,....this seven minute vintage film clip I found to be a real eye opener. I learned a few things: *The Ford Willow Run aircraft production plant was up and running in June of 1941. That's five months prior to Pear Harbor. *One B-24 Lib rolled off the line every 55 minutes. * Each bomber consisted of 1,225,000 parts,...vs. 15,000 per automobile. *Each aircraft was thoroughly tested on the ground and in the air before delivery. In fact,....dummy bombs were dropped from the aircraft during it's air performance testing.
The best scene of all is the overhead camera shooting of the production line itself. The bombers look like one continual flow of produced aircraft. Which they were. The Axis powers didn't have a chance against US production methods. Enjoy!

I've always thought if you could distribute a photo of the Willow Run production line to Axis leaders before the war started that you could have saved a bunch of folks a lot of trouble.

There were over 18,000 B-24's built by the end of the war.

Nothing, nothing any of the Axis could do could ever match that level of production.

Luftwaffe wonder weapons my butt.
