Scaling this to my standard college-issue 300mm diameter globe of the world, this is 0.25mm.
Which is another way of saying: Just about nothing.
Inside there sits most of the life on the planet.
We really do need to look after it.

Maybe if they drill a little deeper they will hit the hot melted rock and cause a volcano. After the gulf has recovered from the volcano (hundred years?) Louisiana would have a barrier island to protect it from hurricanes. :)
