RE: Russian water bomber

Beriev makes some good planes. Just goes to show that amphibians are still useful. I liked the sequence of the Beriev taking on water while up "on the step" of the hull. :)

I would love to see an airline implement the Be-200 into thier fleet. Kind of a 'new-age' Pan Am.

10 first class and 32 business class model or 66 seat tourist class. Some day.

Interesting that they utilise a joystick instead of a yoke, surely unusual in such a large aircraft.
Perhaps they BC and Californian governments should consider investing in these for forest fires. Ours (BC) certainly are getting a bit long in the tooth.

There has been some discussion, but as usual, the big issue is certification. Beriev is certainly keen to get the product out in service but ...

Flying boats got killed by marketing as much as technology but they still have some use. Now think what kind of water-bomber the SARO Princess would have made :icon_lol:

Providing of course the problem area has a bloody great lake full of water close to it....frigging useless for a major fire that has been burning for 2 weeks around the small city of Rockhampton over this way. But it's not much good in a drought.

Be-200 is brilliant, 80% of it is parts from it's bigger brother the A-40 'Mermaid', it's an aircraft i'm profiling and making for FSX at the moment (A-40 currently, looking at adding the Be-200) she is a beautiful aircraft :jump:

There is an old Beriev Be-200 available for flightsim. As I recall, it's tough to find. I'd gladly welcome a new one into my hanger as I would any amphib/flying boat.
