RealFlight F6F Hellcat Released

Hi , the lights are all run with the switches on the right hand panel with the only " Default " light being the landing lights, there are no light entries in the aircraft.cfg , we used only attach points as the FSX sdk allows this method now, the only lighting.cfg entries were used for engine smoke.

"my wife use to as well many moons ago !! I won't go there promise "
PS EgoR64 , you have to go there once in a while or she will seek a divorse

Thanks for the info....have modified with info from other posts. I have lights now. Although I do most of my flying during the day...I fly into mountains at night.

I just purchased this a/c and think its superb but was wondering if I can find some powerplant settings since the manual is so vague. Also I wish an update can include some more yaw and p-factor because I really dont have to use any rudder at all with this plane which cant be accurate. Anyone have some fixes for this! Also any good repaints out there yet.

Whats that extra fx for in Lights???

Oh.... not much ...., one day during the design process Colin says what’s that cabin light switch do blow up the plane ? .. i says ya ... and unknown to the rest of the team i added that ... next time the beta team was testing the build and used that switch or the L key not only the aircraft but the entire airport was in flames... it’s a little bit of designer humour.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

In the service pack i added the VC lighting entry i had in the release cfg that got mixed up with a previous builds cfg during the process of assembling the installer , if you want to have a little fun add this and imagine for a moment the possibilities for use with the DOA.dll

Do you have auto-rudder on in your settings? If so, it won't need any rudder at all.

What a nice surprise this morning. Hermann, it is really good to know that you are still around. Hope all is well with you. Seeing this message sure brings back some great memories of the good ole days. You are still the best there is in designing effects in my book.

Cheers, Tom

This is just an informative note not a condemnation of the F6F
After install, I managed one flight that was pretty cool. However on the next try the aircraft came out looking like it had been through a trash compactor. Everything, wings, prop, landing gear were sticking out at all odd angles kind of a scrunched F6F. Chuck_Jordy this is just an FYI don't know if anyone else has had this issue. My FSX is SP1 only and was running pretty darn good FPS 22 with mid-high settings. Would love any ideas on what to do. I have reinstalled a couple times but it keeps coming up scrunched... In the plane selection screen the textures all look great. It is only after clicking "FLY NOW" that the problem crops up.

Hi LC

You might consider upgrading to FSX SP2. I had a similar problem with Piglet's updated OV-10 (pieces sticking out at odd angles where they didn't belong), and moving to SP2 fixed it.

Cheers,
Craig

I am working on an Alpha Stage aircraft in Accel, and tried it out in SP2... some strange things. Each version seems to be it's own sim designer wise. I think that most will settle on Accel as the standard. Too bad that Accel wasn't the original release!

Do you have a high bufferpool setting in the cfg? The only time I've seen the model get all mixed around like that it if the bufferpool is set too high, such as 15MB or more.

Chuck_Jordy_VJPL,
Thank you, I will put them in just as soon as I can. I'm looking forward to strafing all those pleasure boats near Seattle hehehehehe.

Is there anyway to edit the a/c so the prop doesnt turn as long when you shut the engine down, it seems to keep chugging along way longer than supposed to and goes fast and slow and fast and slow, not a steady deceleration!

I figured out how to change this and to keep rpms from surging. If i edit the prop momentem will it affect anything else like the cruise speeds or drag? I didn't notice a change just want to be sure?

Generally the rate at which the prop spins down is controled by the shape of the curve in the Cyl friction vrs RPM curve table (Tbl 509) in the Airfile. With not enough low end friction, the prop will continue to spin indefinitly!

Watching the R2800's shutdown in some of the aircraft up here in Alaska they do spin for quite a while. The "surge" that you see may in fact be the way the prop animation shows up in FSX. I think that if you carefully monitor the actual engine RPM on shutdown you will not see a surge.

Cheers: t.

I just notice how when I go to set an rpm it bounce 50 hi then 50 low and slowly stablizes, when I edited the prop momentum to what other a/c have in their cfg files to 50 or 100 the prop stays put and also the prop winds down a whole lot better. I haven't tested enough yet but I just wanted to make sure by doing this Im not changing the performance of the airplane because I don't want that.

Is it me or does the plane seem a little on the underpowered side when flying in cruise power settings at 34mp and 2400 rpms I only get about 135 mph or so down low at 3000 feet?

SP:

If you are interested in this I suggest getting the AFSD Utility by Herve Sors (French). You should be able to google to his site. It will reveal many many things going on with the airplane, such as just how much HP you are putting out at any particular MP/RPM combination.

Cheers: T.
