Realistic Turbo Prop sounds?

OleBoy

Charter Member 2015
Can anyone recommend "what they feel" is the most realistic, single, turboprop sounds?
......I have Bill's Quest Kodiak sound files in use right now, though I'm wondering if there is better yet?

I'll be using them in Tim's Scrofa

I'll bite,
That is a hard one to answer Oleboy.
I really like the sounds included in the payware Alphasim T34-C Mentor.
Sounds are done by TSS.

I also like the sounds included in the payware Wilco Caravan. Those are the top two I have crossed paths with.

If you are looking for freeware sounds...I know of none that are really good.

Thanks for the reply LD. After posting this topic, I remembered that I bought the Iris PC-9 during the xmas sale, amongst others. I installed it and gave that a flight. The sounds are good, but there's a real annoying repetition in the sounds. Bummed me out. Short of that they're not too bad. But, annoying!

Dude, go to the Alphasim freeware page, grab the freeware FS9 T-34C Mentor. Comes with great single engine turbo prop sounds. May not have the FSX directional cone thingie in the sound set up...but the sounds are quite nice. I use this package for all my Turbo prop GA planes.

OBIO

Thanks for the lead OBIO. I was in the middle of downloading it, then found I already did. AGES AGO!!

I'll try them.

edit; NO WAY. Have you listened to them in FSX? It sounds like cross between a sick helicopter and a dragster!!

Don't have the Iris PC-9.
I have purchased the one's I mentioned and have used those in aircraft other than the one's intended.

Currently, I use the Wilco's Caravan sounds in the Carenado's Van. To me...spot on.
Trying to remember what I used the Mentor's for...can't tho...damn CRS!!

I really like 'dehavilland_dhc6_twin_otter_the_real_deal.zip' by Christoffer Petersen, found at Avsim. It was made for the twin Otter but works fine with single engine aircraft too.
Fs9, so no FsX style soundcones though.

Just downloaded the free Alphasim FS9 T34 Mentor and the sound file states,

[fltsim]
alias=c182\sound

Right. Same as I found. The one I have is the T-34C http://www.fsdownload.com/modules.php?name=Flight_Simulator_X_Downloads&d_op=search#searchresults which is likely why it sounds as it does in FSX

sorry to jump a bit off topic, but arent the freeware alphasim planes always minus the soundpack ?

Yes they are. I think the soundpacks were licensed to AS for use in payware aircraft only. A small price to pay for lots of freeware presents I guess, and there are usually plenty of alternative soundfiles available.
