Red Arrow crash at Bournemouth International Airshow

I just got a call from Bournemouth, that one of the Red Arrows team has crashed.
Emergency crews are at the scene.
No news about the pilot yet, it was a flat impact outside of the display area on landing approach.
Hopefully everything turns out well...

Stuart from the amateur footage on BBC news the impact happened during the break to land phase, it broke off, peeled hard right as they do and didn't appear to level out much, just made a shallow dive for the deck... RED 4 i believe the aircraft was looking at formation for the Break for land....

Well, whatever happened we will find out. No good speculating...
Just such a shame as I only met the crew last weekend at Eastbourne Airbourne.
They were also due to fly here in Shoreham this weekend.

yup keep speculation free, and Vulcan is also currently grounded due to a fuel leak, as much as i'm not a Red Arrows fan, it's always sad to see the loss of aircraft (Pilot status currently unknown) ....

little update, video and eyewitness reports state there wasn't an ejection, no parachutes seen. below is the Hawk involved post accident... One of "the local farmers said they'd seen rescue teams pulling the pilot out of the river" < Quote from BBC News Website, will keep you updated.

I know we were trying not to speculate, but it's 4 hours after the incident & the MOD are being very close about the whole affair. Let's be honest, sadly it does not look good. :-(

thats exactly what i was thinking Andy, they're being a little too quiet about the whole affair, normally if pilots safe it's announced pretty quickly, and the state that Hawk is in... not looking good, but i'll continue to pray for a miracle! :salute:

It's certainly not looking good.
Our local broadcaster, ITV Meridian, reported in the evening bulletin that an RAF pilot has died in a crash in Bournemouth.
I hope that they are wrong.
Waiting for more...

A very sad day for all of us in the aviation community... real world and virtual. My sincere condolences to his team mates and his family.
