Redwing L-1049G Super G for FS2024 released!

DennyA

SOH-CM-2023
She's released on the FS2024 Marketplace, and there's a one-day free trial, which is awesome.

Beautiful upgrade. I only had about a half-hour to mess with it while eating lunch, but it's not just an update, it's a full rework that shows all that Redwing has learned in the years since the old 2020 version.

Priller you thumb is pointing in the wrong direction. This Cow Town guy obvious didn't take the time to read the manual which is very apparent with many of his comments and you can not learn an airplane of this complexity in a couple of hours. He grabbed it for free to rush out a very poorly prepared review. This review is in the same catagory as Cow Droppings.

Yep. There are a lot of crappy YT reviews, but this one's especially poor.

There's a one-day free trial that will tell you a lot more than this. I'd suggest waiting for the first update to burn the trial if you're not sure, as there are a couple of issues (the biggest being the Pilot eyepoint is wrong; shift to Landing view or move manually) that are going to be addressed. A C-121-specific model is in the works too, as well as more liveries.

It was a review, I didn't even watch it. Thumb taken away. Having a life, a job and this site to watch over can sometimes be a bit much.

That is my only defence!

I've watched only two quick videos of the Redwing Connie and from initial observation, it does look nice. The question that I have is that the 2020 model works about 95% in 2024. What is the incentive to throw another $40+ for the same plane? Just asking?

Page 34 of the manual linked in post 4 includes resolutions. 32:9 (5120x1440) isn't included. If the devs are reading this, can you add more options?

An update is in the works and will be released very soon. Having a Connie to fly in FS2024 is worth the price and this airplane will not sit in your hangar collecting dust. It was a complete overhaul of the FS2020 version, similar to FS2020 vs FS2024 which we had to pay for to upgrade. Considering the hours of enjoyment you will have with this airplane it is well worth the $42 dollars IMHO. It really is a pleasure to fly and I have over 250 hours in it already as a beta tester, maybe more, and to me it flies very well and Redwing's flight dynamics really capture the feeling of a heavy 4 engined propliner, especially in the pitch and roll axis. To really enjoy this airplane you need to spend time in the manuals, this is not just a jump in and fly airplane. If anyone has any ideas or requests you can comment them on the Redwing Discord or here and I can always pass them on to the developer.

No defence needed Priller and I completely understand your situation. I was there once myself, but now I am retired, actually a FAA forced retirement after turning 65.

Getting back to Cow Town, it is so obvious what he did, he grabbed a free 24 hour copy, never read the manual, and produced a very poorly prepared review. It is a discredit to Redwing and all the hours, days, weeks and months of hard work that was put into the new FS2024 Connie and it truly degrades his legitimacy as a reviewer you should take seriously.

He should be ashamed of himself for what he did and really apologise to Redwing for posting his ill prepared and misleading review. For his review to have any resemblance of accuracy he should have taken a few days to read the manual, get to learn the cockpit, with all it's switches, levers and knobs, checklists and their proper flows, not to mention learning all the systems of the Connie, which in reality takes days of study. All the features offered in the extensive clipboard and then spend a few days flying the Connie to get a feel for it. Then and only then does he have the right to post a review about a developers airplane.

But he wasn't going to buy it anyway and he only had a short window to make the review before his 24 hour freebie limit expired.

In my mind he is a complete failure as a reviewer and a total hack. If he had any self respect he would remove that review from YouTube.
