[release] beta cfs3 small effects replacement

Your stuff looks great and I would like to try it, perhaps you could PM or email me just the changes/additions you made. I have plenty of additions to my effects.xml so I really can't use your whole file as it would negate the additions in mine. Similarly I get nervous with taking a whole effects folder when I don't know what is added or subtracted from mine.:wiggle:

The simple way is sorting by date. You can find from the date 4/7/2018 to 12/3/2018 it's should be 56 files in FXTextures folder that i change.


And inside effects.xml, i only change this line :

James, you can always use your favourite file comparison software to check what is different, before accepting the changes. I use Winmerge but I think you said you had a different one?

Your welcome Dai !! feel free to update as i feel this's "AS IS" (experimental stuff), still couldn't find the right RGB code for smoke in the effects.xml so i leave it to 0 0 0 based on google :untroubled:...im not expert with all of this stuff but seems it's just my experiment idea. :adoration:

Btw i change all those clouds into fluffy clouds which i like the most and that's why i also include weather folder.

Aaahh nice !!..i see that...there's something different in your screenshots..so that's why there's a huge explosion and big black smoke..
i wonder where's that coming from :biggrin-new:
So is it have to hit bomb bays to get that effect? guess its for lancaster only right?
if we fly too close to that bomber and if it's exploding like that, did my plane got the damage effect too?
 
1. I have this with the Lanc, Halifax and Stirling.The effects relate to several damage boxes.

2. I added the effects to a B17 I renamed as ETO_B17G_447_44_sc. That is what the screenshots were of.

3. I am totally unaware if CFS3 explosive effects actually effect things outside of the object they are applied to. Somehow I doubt it; however in real WWII, they probably did if the other aircraft was that close.

4. As I said I can give you the whole aircraft if you want to play with the effects.:wavey:

Back to your effects v2. A couple of things, having used ExamDiff to compare your xml with the one I have.

1. Are you using the latest version of David and Andy's combined effects as you seem to have less entries than I have?

2. I note in fact your new effects are under the same name (such as Air_Smoke_Flak_end1) as already existing ones but with different fx dds files required (maybe other changes but that seems the main one). This means one can't just add your effects to one's xml' one has to replace those effect lines with yours.

I am just saying this so others are aware of the situation; of course I can do the change with no problem!:wiggle:

1. Yes i use latest david release inside his 400MB package as my base and my effects line might far different from yours. You might have lot effect line that i dont have it, because i use David effects.xml as my basic reference.

2. What i change inside effects.xml only some dds, the rest still the same and it's only mixing dds. Also the RGB code is changing in engine fire line (not all).
and if ppl want to see effects especially flak & engine fire like in my screenshots, they should use my flak smoke & engine fire effect line or they can use their own but it will different in the result and cannot just by replacing DDS files and that's why it's including effects.xml in the download.
All DDS files required in my effects.xml is in FXtextures & Flak folder...It's all there

Only DDS and RGB code is changing even not all of them because i don't want messed with other effects. Just for what im thinking it should use new DDS.
I just begin to learn & explore it..im not the expert for the whole effects...this's my basic start :adoration:

I think yours using the multicombined effects that's why im thinking is there another one with more entries? you said i have less entries than yours....gosh! My fault then ! so sorry guys, I have to revise effects.xml in the v2 :untroubled:

Sorry guys, its about time I updated the CFS3 Upgrade. Also the MAW 1943 needs attention and the link returned to the stickies. Just when RL is intruding with unreasonable demands like fixing the deck, mowing the lawn and arranging to get the house painted...:running:

There're 3 main lines in effects.xml so far that i've change (thanks for reminding air_explosion_flak), i almost forgot that thing :biggrin-new:
1. Air_explosion_flak
2. Air_smoke_flak
3. Engine_fire_smoketrail

If you don't mind maybe be you can upload here for us with the FIX and use your Effects.xml as the new advance xml ?? :untroubled:

I won't upload here as basically that is up to David and Andy to do. I also have stuff from Borek which you should have anyway. I will send you mine with your alterations (except Air_Explosion_Flak_Add's not done yet) which I am using on my main ETO?TOW install.

So I should follow your Air_Explosion_Flak_Add's as well.

Looking forward to see what you do with the B17 I sent you!
