Suggest to pauze it, stop MSFS.

Then update first the MSFS app via de Store (1GB)
1. Press the WINDOW key on your keyboard (Windows icon key) and type "Store" to bring up the Microsoft Store app. In the menu, select Open.
2. Click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the screen to open the dropdown menu
3. In the dropdown menu, select My Library.
4. In the list, select Microsoft Flight Simulator and select Update to begin the update process.

Then start MSFS to get the 20 GB update.

I want to say there is a setting in the dev mode that toggles this.. but I'm having trouble recalling which one exactly. Do you use dev mode at all?

Nice!!! thank you so much, that was it...now I'm going to have a little conversation with my oldest grandson about his experiences with MSFS.
Once again, thanks a lot. That was very annoying when trying to find a location in Paris within this update.

The download is not going well for me.
The initial Windows Store part went just fine but the in Sim part seems to be looping on the same file.
Its currently on 5/181 and is going round and round from 121.85MiB to 121.89MiB continually

(Update) It was stuck trying to download the C172 G1000. I got fed up waiting for it so shut the sim down and started it again and it started downloading OK again, then it got stuck again on the E330, shut it down again and it started downloading OK again, now its stuck again on the C208.

Looks like I'm going to have to keep stopping and starting it again and again.
Is there a way to verify the files after the download on the store version like you can with Steam games ?

Fortunately no issues with today's update on my end. I saw posted elsewhere again, and it has become standard practice, to make sure that Windows is fully updated first and that the Community folder is empty, prior to running the update and the sim for the first time after the update. I never had to do any update from the Microsoft Store this time. After installing the update and running the sim one time, I then closed it down and added in some of my addons, including the FlyingIron Spitfire, and it all checks out just fine.

I installed this today. I have no Arc De Triumph or Notre Dame. I thought that was strange considering how well the rest of the city was done. Can anyone confirm those two items are there? I have nothing where Notre Dame should be, and I have a 12 story building where the arc should be. Thanks for any info you can share.

All told, the update was nearly 28 gigs if you include the regional update. Perhaps it would be better to have more frequent, smaller updates? Even through my high speed connection, it was a good 2+ hours to complete the total task. Eithernet is mandatory.

The best way is to rename the Community folder (example: Community_old). This is done before making the update. When FS2020 does the update, it will actually create a new Community folder because it can't find the original. Once the update is done, close FS2020, and copy over the contents of the original to the new community folder.

If you don't do this, some of the freeware aircraft or scenery may not work. It may also prevent you from accessing the content manager if a file is corrupted. Anyway, that's what I have found effective to do.

Good luck. I think it is a huge mistake to provide monster updates like this. Much better experience would be smaller, more frequent updates. 28 gigs is a bit much and with so many changes there are bound to be bugs.
