Release of sdsbolt's radar plus app. More than meets the eye

:bump: Time to bump again.
1. There is now an operational Lichtenstein Fug202 radar by sdsbolt which will be in Dornier Do215B-5s and hopefully in new Bf110F versions currently being made by NachtPiloten which will also include the Fug202. This is in addition to sdsbolt's NJ GCI radio control feature.

2. The following RAF aircraft have AI radar capabilities thanks to sdsbolt.
Blenhein NFs (some)
Beaufighter NFs (some)
Defiant NFs (some)
Mosquito NF (one so far)
Possibly the Havocs soon!

All NFs have GCI radio control

All of these features will be available in the upcoming TOW Pt. I release; sadly postponed to January due to some of these new features needing to be incorporated into the aircraft and missions.

One more point to note WRT to TOW, BoB, and other installs. In fact it is NOT necessary to make stand alone aircraft versions to use sdsbolt's app; one just has to have the appropriate short name in the existing aircraft's xdp file. such as XXXX F.C. XXXX K.b., XXXX N.F., XXXX N.J, atc.

:bump:
Given some of the other stickies here, I think this is a worthy candidate!:wavey:
So, the latest version is to be had here. https://www.mediafire.com/file/btv6j8o3lapm4if/AIradar_v1.2.rar/file

Latest version of sdsbolt's app; Air Intercept Radar update for Combat Flight Simulator 3. Version 1.2

329816453918575029.png

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 3 Other Add-Ons - Bombsights, Maps, Radars, and Reticles

Description: Latest version of sdsbolt's app; Air Intercept Radar update for Combat Flight Simulator 3. Version 1.2

Description: This addon adds continues to support for Britain’s A.I. mkVIII radar and non-radar night fighters, and adds the Luftwaffe's Nachjagd Lichtenstein Fug 202 It also continues to support German Knickebein beam targeting for bombers, and adds Lorenz ILS for Luftwaffe 'fliegerhorsten'

Note:
The app is a cheat engine and therefore Windows tends to block it., That is also why there is no exe file uploaded but the file A.I.Radar.rename_to_EXE, which speaks for itself!

That is also why, in my (Mongoose) case, I downloaded it to a folder where the contents are accepted by the Windows OS. I then keep the exe file in that ‘protected’ folder and make an external shortcut to it and placed where I keep my current CFS3 exe shortcuts. Now, exactly how you do that depends on your set up; use Google or websites to find out if in doubt.

See the documents AI App installation and A.I. Radar Use. In addition the app can be obtained from https://www.mediafire.com/file/nxzuy2gcprq1u1w/AIradar_v1.2.rar/file

The comments you make there will appear in the posts below.

Just a reminder of how ro get Windows to accpet the cheat engine, which is what this App is.

"1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
2. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions.

Add an exclusion to Windows Security

This issue keep coming up, so a reminder, Once you get it, there should be no problem, but windows occasionally throws a hissy fit, so follow the advice of the last sentence below!

"My folder is on my desktop, but could be anywhere. In a folder there, I keep all aspects of the app and get my Win 10 pro to list it under 'exclusions'

Control Panel\System and Security\Security and Maintenance then click Virus and threat protection, then Exclusions and add or remove exclusions
C:\Users\xxxxx\Desktop\ETO TOW Shortcuts\AI Radar Plus\(all contents or what you like in the or similar named folder)

I also keep the downloaded zip file there so when Win10 occasionally gets difficult, I again unzip into that 'secure' folder.""

:bump: I'm sure this also was once a sticky! In view of the new Ju88 Nachtjaeger releases by NachtPiloten and more to come, sdsbolt will have a new AIradar version out soon after testing, so this will be an useful thread on it's use for radar, ILS, and Radio Compass use.

Note the release on another thread ( https://www.mediafire.com/file/7l8lv1p6kh74rwt/AI_Radar_2.zip/file post #91) of the latest AIradar app at https://www.mediafire.com/file/7l8lv1p6kh74rwt/AI_Radar_2.zip/file
This version is less prone to being blocked by an OS or AV app. Also v.2 has more features for use especially with NatctPiloten's new JU88C,R, and G night fighters, as well as upcoming NJ Bf110s, the He219, and others. Many upcoming TOW Pt. II missions will make use of this app in training missions as well as operational ones.

"Air Intercept Radar update for Combat Flight Simulator 3.
Version 2.0
Description;
This add-on is designed to simulate some electronic night flying aids for the RAF and Luftwaffe.
This update replaces version A.I.radar version 1 . You do not need version 1 to run this
program. It will work with previously released A.I.radar enabled aircraft and TOW addon.
Features include:
-Air Intercept radar
-GCI radio
-Electronic bombing aids
-Lorenz landing beam
-AFN and radio altimeter . -must be modeled in aircraft VC
Contains:
-A.I.radar.exe program with supporting files in AI_radar_folder
-Beam targeting facilities , ILS approach facility and dummy ships for use with Lorenze or
bombing aids .
-Test mission for Oboe. Requires DGS CFS3 Mosquito BIV model.
Installation:
-A.I.Radar.exe can go anywhere on your system including Desktop. “AI_Radar_folder” must be
in the same folder as A.I.radar.exe.
Place the facilities “ILS_approach.xml” and “Beam_targeting.xml” in your Combat Flight
Simulator 3/facilities folder . Place the “beam_target” folder in your Combat Flight Simulator
3/ships folder . “Oboe_test_Essen” goes in Combat Flight Simulator 3/missions/training folder.
-Your Antivirus program might remove A.I.Radar or flag it as a virus. If that happens , add
A.I.radar program to your AV exceptions list.
-In some cases Windows Defender may try to erase A.I.radar.exe . There are instructions on
how to exclude a file at this link:
Solved] Stop Windows 10 from Deleting Files without Asking – EaseUS
Operation:
-Start program A.I.Radar.exe before CFS3 or while CFS3 is running
-The A.I.Radar.exe program can be turned off with hotkeys ALT-Q.
Radar/GCI intercepts
-After the mission is started and you are airborne you can toggle-on GCI radio communications
with hotkeys SHIFT-R. GCI will vector you to the closest enemy formation. You will
automatically get an updated vector every minute .You can also get an updated vector by hitting
hotkeys CONTROL-R.
-GCI will get you as close as it can to enemy formation at which point you can toggle-on the A.I.
cathode screens with hotkeys ALT-R. GCI may not be able to get you close enough to make
immediate A.I. contact depending on your altitude and location.
-At any point you can toggle-off GCI communications with SHIFT-R.
Knickebein/Oboe:
-Mission must contain two Beam_tageting facilities. One at transmitter area with a heading
Of 180 degrees. The second facility should be at target area and facing 0 degrees.
-Tone is toggled on/off with Control-N.
-You will hear static if you are too far from the signal or too low. Minimum altitude increases with
increased distance from the transmitter facility.
- for Oboe only, You must be in the aircraft's bombadier position to hear imminent drop and
drop signals.
Knickebein
Oboe
Lorenz/ILS approach:
-Mission must contain ILS_approach facility on landing runway. Facility must face the same
direction as landing aircraft (not towards landing aircraft).
-Toggle sound on/off with shift-I , Toggle gauge on/off with control-I (gauge must be modeled in
vc)
Notes:
-This addon works best with Ankor's shaders
-This is a very simplified version of A.I. radar. I have not modeled the controls or equipment
reliability.
-GCI will treat air groups with nationalities "Germany" "Italy ", "Vichy_France" ,"CAI","Finland"
,"Other_Axis_Nations and "Spain_Nationalists" as Axis powers. All others will be treated as an
Allied power.
-GCI covered areas will change according to your mission date.
-GCI will get you as close as they can to a target before you are ordered to use A.I. or watch for
target . How close GCI will direct you depends on your altitude , aircraft A.I. and type of ground
radar in your area .
-A.I.radar works best without random spawns though you can include mission spawns.
-Dot and Dash navigation signals will never perfectly align to create a steady tone.
RADAR QUICK KEY MENU
-Shift-R toggles on/off GCI communications. Need to turn on during the mission.
-ALT-R to toggle on/off AI scope. Need to turn on during a mission.
-you will get an updated vector every minute and possibly sooner. or you can request an
update.
-Control-R to request a vector information update until you reach A.I. or visual range.
-Shift-I toggles on/off ILS approach radio.
-Control-I toggles on/off ILS approach gauge. Gauge must be modeled in VC.
-Control-N toggles on/off bomber navigation.
-ALT-Q to shut down the trainer or you can just hit 'x' in the upper right corner of A.I.radar
screen.
Developer Notes:
-Addon model must contain text 'A.I.iv' , 'A.I.iii' ‘,A.I.mkviii’, ’N.F.’, ‘F.C.’ ‘B.C.’ ,’Fug.202’,
’Fug.220’ ,‘K.b.’ or ‘ .Oboe’ within the first 36 characters of shortname in aircraft xdp.
-Gun0 must be non-trainable in the addon models using A.I. scopes
-if anyone needs a gmax example of A.I. radar box, AFN gauge , or radio altimeter gauge just
p.m me at sim-outhouse.
