Never go by warbird's for sheen levels, they often paint them in gloss for two reasons. 1. the paints they often use (2k) are difficult to achieve satin & flat finishes & 2. it's far easier to keep a gloss finish clean.

In the 1980s if you knew where to look you could often see the date the aircraft was last painted. At an airshow the F-15s and 16s and the like were always painted within a couple of days of the show. Looking down the line at the ADC F-106s it may have been painted 3 years before but still looked great (they wouldn't have been sent if they didn't) The gloss ADC grey seemed bulletproof and much cleaner.
 
I was doing some aircraft carrier approaches and noticed what I believe it the root of potential engine woes.
The oil temp does get high when at high rpms such as a long approach with everything hanging out.

Reading the actual Skyraider manual it says maximum cruise for normal operations is 2200 rpm at 31.5 MAP
For the approach it says set the RPM to 2150, in the event of a go around then increase to take off setting

In my experience after takoff, maintaining climb power for long will see the oil temps nudging the limits so once you are on your way it is best to set a more modest cruise climb power setting.
As for cruise power I find 28 inches of MAP and either 1850 or 2050 gives a good cruise speed depending on the weight of the aircraft.
 
OK, so I get a hang of flying the Skyraider and I made a fictive mission. Take off ad Udorn (that is not real, it should have been Nakhon Phanom) Mission: Defend the airfield LS-220, enemy is towards the east, at the ridge. It went quite well. Expended all my ordinance (rockets and two bombs).
Flew to Vientane and ended the flight there.
I am pleased :) .

Sorry, I don't have 2024, and so I can't adapt my paints for 2024. If they work as they are, fine, if not, there's nothing I can do

I'm using these settings, based on maint manual. The appearance is still not compressed enough, which is an animation issue, I think. Beyond our control.Screenshot (3966).pngScreenshot (3968).png

Wells, I checked that issue also and found that there must be something wrong on the Miltech side. Since the last version, the compression - also on weight changes - is there, the heavier the aircraft gets, the more the struts are compressed - but the wheels start to float above the ground. The attitude of the aircraft remains the same. See image. Next update, please :)

PS: I've got the NATOPS manuals here, but not the maintenance manual. Could you point me to a download source for that? Would be great :)

Understood, it might be as simple as just updating the layout.json file, to make them work.

The FS24 Skyraider is a fully modular aircraft and needs livery.cfg and .dxt2 files in a completely different file structure so no chance of using FS20 liveries.
You MIGHT be able to use the FS20 Skyraider in FS24 in compatibility mode but I haven't tried that.
 
Had a couple extra bucks with the paycheck so I caved and bought it. It feels pretty good compared to what I was reading before. Although, it seems the rudder still has a touch too much authority once the tailwheel comes unstuck during takeoff, though it dampens out to what one would expect once you're airborne and cruising.

If anyone's curious, usaf-sig.org (under References>Downloads>Technical Orders>Type Specific) has the POH for the AD-4 dated 1949. It says Maximum Cruise settings are as follows:

Mixture set Normal, from Sea Level to 14,000'. 31.5"MP @ 2200 RPM, max CHT is 230'C

Takeoff:
Mixture Rich, 56.5"MP @ 2600 RPM, max CHT 260'C

Should be close enough to at least get anyone having engine issues going, since I'd rather not spend anything for a more relevant manual just yet.

Was pleasantly surprised to see the bombs and rocks could be dropped and launched with effects for impacts! Though I don't see myself doing much CAS in MSFS, it's a nice feature in any case.
