Remove old notification icons in Windows 7

Didn't find any Win 7 tweaks section so I hope I can ask for some help here.

I am trying to delete old notification icons in the windows notificaton area;

I have a link that shows example of what I am interested in. I have some old programs I've deleted but the icons still remain in the windows notification panel.
