Repaint for Piglet's A-12A Avenger II

I've been a bit diverted....but recently got back to the A12A .... putting everything together in one huge psd .... but it's pushing 300 meg.

Latest fiddle is a colour ver of the digital camo ..... shall up a screenie once I get past adding more vers to the file...;)

If I whittle it down a bit [more sensible] it'd do as a fair-to-middling paint kit ... in 4096 ...;)

Here's the colour Digi Camo..... kinda works as a camo too...;)

The file is now 372meg ... but includes several skins that are Tommy's, not mine...so I wouldn't include them in a release [when-ever]...;)

Back to 'reality'....

Not sure just how much to put into this Paint-Kit .... getting quite a few layers to mix and match all sorts of variations...;)

Edit .... changed the 'Marine' text to black ...and a few other bits...;)

I spent quite a bit of time refining the Paint-Kit ....adding an additional text layer ....some of which is realistic but others are so small it won't matter - 4 pixel font at 4096 is only vaguely legible anyway.

Made up a whole bunch of detail to make it 'plausible' .... with a few more tweaks to the metalwork as needed by the text.

This one's probably my fave ....;)

....cos the metal looks passable [I think] ...;)

Jafo,

Nice to see you still plugging away at the A-12......

I've taken a break from all repainting for the time being just to enjoy FSX itself. It doesn't help that I just had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall my OS. But I may still have one, maybe two more A-12 repaints sitting on the back burner. Sometimes it works out better for me to take a long break from repainting and come back refreshed.

Just pick-up Virtavia's B-45 Tornado; it's got some of that old school AlphaSim feel to it. Just what the doctor order! I love it.

Tommy...yes...saw the B45 ....it's on my "shopping list" after I get delivery of my 'new toy' ....replacing my X52 with a X65F ....got a bigger number so gotta be better...;)

I've tried to rationalize the Paint Kit .... took out everything but my own specific skins....and got it down to er.... 185 meg as a PSD. It's 4096 res hence the size....and 102 layers.

Perhaps that's the problem.... 102 layers.

Not sure what people might want in a kit.....or if any...;)

Things are moving along. Decided the trans layer needed its own 'kit'...so been setting up a PSD for metal and/or painted works...with linework/text/etc layered for selection [or not].
Then I ran me old Black Sheep Sqn skin through it....and ended up with a little more detail....;)

Comparing it to the original...I think it's better...;)

The original..... View attachment 84475

Ah...speedy and efficient...;)

'detail' includes the 'kills' as per the original...Pilot Lt. William Whisner Owner Jim Beasley..A/C No. 43-25147 487th Sqn logo and the "Princess ELIZABETH" 'nose-art' of the original.

Almost done...just the alpha for the metal...and more appropriate pilot names...;)

That yellow strip around the nose took about 2 hours .... the model gets a bit quirky around there...;)

Edit....there you go..'Boo-Man Choo' no. 45-11391.;)

I'll upload these 3 P51-inspired versions shortly...;)

Jafo,

Between you and me, there is going to be nothing left for the the other guys to paint.

I'm still on the fence on my P-51 Mustang inspired repaint; I just can't get it right....:blind:
