Repaint Request For An F-86E

Typhoon Willy

Charter Member
Hi all,

I was wondering if some kind soul would do a repaint of Capt. Cecil G. Foster's F-86E "Four Kings and a Queen" using either for Kirk Olsson's or the Flight 1 F-86 as the canvas. Capt. Foster grew up in Midland, Michigan, my wife's hometown, and was Michigan's highest scoring pilot during the Korean War.

Thanks,

TW

Here's some pics:

From the readme of the addon texture pack:

Product: Skin Texture Pack to complement the SECTIONF8 F-86E/F Sabre model for FS9/FS2004
Filename SF8SKNS.ZIP
Licensor: Jan Visser for SECTIONF8

Hi guys,

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and converted the SF8 plane using MDLC v1.90. The plane converted well except the pilot nor the droptanks show. I get almost 30 fps with this bird against a clear sky/unlimited vis which is almost double that of KO's F-86.

Oh, and I did download the extra skin pack and then went hunting for additional skins in our library and over at Flight-sim. This really is a nice plane!

Hey Bearcat, what's the trick of getting the pilot to show up?

Thanks again for your responses,

TW

Hey Bearcat, what's the trick of getting the pilot to show up?

Its a looooong, boring story amigo...LOL, but i converted and uploaded this one back in '08 (the original thread here) ------ http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?4207-The-Hunters....Section-8-on-station

No disrepect to the designers of other beautiful Sabre models, but this one is my absolute favorite in my Korea CFS2 install. Jan and crew did a great job with lots of creative, FS-style detailing, a good bit of which is lost in the conversion process. However, i managed to save the animated pilot with a lot of help from scasm. Its mission-ready also.

By the way T-Willy, thanks for highlighting Foster's plane with this thread. I always thought this was an interesting name and noseart scheme, but never took the opportunity to investigate. After viewing your close-up pics i realized that this was his family displayed in the cards - his wife and four sons.

Hi Bearcat,

Thanks for the links for your conversion, I thought someone had converted the F8 Sabre but couldn't remember who. I think the reason I went with Olsson's plane is that someone did "The Huff" skin, which is my favorite Sabre paint job.

I didn't know that the cards represented Capt. Foster's family, nice word play there. I first heard of him while I was up visiting my in-laws and there was an article in the Midland Daily News which roused my curiousity.

Thanks again for your help!
