Repairing Aerodynamic balance in AirWrench

Hello chaps, FDE newbie here... When an aircraft's flight model is somewhat difficult to handle and I use AirWrench to do a quick & dirty fix by just pushing the 'Repair Aerodynamic Balance' button, what exactly can happen to the contact points?

I know, I should start from scratch with the correct data, but this is a download and the source files are not available. The contact points have shifted some way back and I'd like to reconfigure them, if possible with the reference datum setting in aircraft.cfg, but I see no change to this setting in the revised .air or .cfg files

This is for CFS3, btw. All coherent answers gratefully received! :icon_lol:
