Replacing stock cfs2 ships

Hi;
Tried locating this through the google search but all refernces are to before the crash (B.T.C).
I want to replace all the stock ships with models from the Vn_navy and Usio. Now to do this do I just take the components of the desired ship and just drop them into the stock ship and replace all those folders, ie; Vn_Enterprise to SHA_Enterprise, or do I then have to change all references of the Vn_ to SHA or will just cut and paste work? Is there a simple method?
Tried just a rename and then the carrier quals wouldn't work.

Each ship has a name.

Make sure, the folder-name, the dp file and the two entries in the ship.cfg are named all the same and you won`t get trouble.

When replacing stock ships, just use their names in all 4 places of the new ship.

Move the original ship out, say into a folder called SHIP_harbor or else.
So there aren`t two ships with the same name, even when the folders were renamed.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought but I had only changed three of the four you cited. The fourth is what I was unaware of and that it was required. Thanks again.

BTW off topic. re; previous post on aliasing aircraft engine sounds.
I used the simplistic method of making a folder in a respective T.O.P.s Aircraft File named Engine Sounds. In that Folder I put a sub-folder named for a engine sound desired, ie; A6m2_Zero. In that I put a file folder title Sound (MSgames\CFS2\CFS2PTO\Aircraft\engine Sounds\A6M2, etc. ( this includes the engine sound)). I then aliased all needed planes to this and it worked GREAT!

Hate to admit that I got lost with your one file for ALL theaters! Thought I had it right but kept getting lost with the \..\..\ counts!:redf:

I found that I can put all of Lawdogs sound in there with the proper titles and alias all planes to the respective sound. Saves a LOT of HD space.
