Reporters: Don't just love how ill informed they are

SOH-CM-2025
From an article on Gisele Bundchen getting her pilots license. Bold my emphisis.

The supermodel is studying to get her helicopter pilot's license. She's passed her written test and is scheduled to take her practical exam in the coming weeks. So she's trying to cram in enough flying hours before her little bundle of joy arrives (she's currently eight months pregnant). Seems the baby bump gets in the way of the rudder, which makes controlling the aircraft a bit difficult, but Gisele is determined to complete her studies.

Does she fly lying face down on the floor?

So since she's actually getting her Private Pilot - Rotorcraft certificate, it's the cyclic FOX News is hopelessly blathering on about, I bet. Rudder was probably the easiest explanation to the reporter, and the only word they knew.

I can see someone trying to explain the concepts of cyclic, collective, throttle, and anti-torque pedals to ANY network news reporter. Probably be like that old movie, "Scanners"... :pop4: :icon_lol:

Par for the course for Fox.

I would hope that a real reporter from a real news organization might do better - but I wouldn't bank on it...

There is a difference between REPORTERS and JOURNALISTS, unfortunately the latter seem to be a dying breed.

In all fairness ... note that there is a little AP under the photo. That could mean the photo is from the AP database, but so could the story, also you will note that this is Fox News 411 group, this is the entertainment coverage section, not some of the brightest reporters in the media ... they're consumed with news about celebs and not actual news.

I will point out the source of Fox's 411 column did come from getback.com, so chances are the story is not original to Fox News but rather just copy cut from getback.

Interesting where this one is going, so I guess I'll toss in my two pesos before it gets locked, hehe...

I watch Fox for any news coverage except when it comes to things scientific, in which case the Fox news people seem to be a bunch of dufuses. If you want to watch a Space Shuttle launch on CNN or Fox, for example, you're better off with CNN. Those babes at Fox haven't a clue about such stuff. But for most other coverage, especially political, Fox is the only place to go.

Yeah your right, I only watch the fox news, and not much else from them.

For the critical reader, an article being under the "news & gossip" area of the "entertainment" section of ANY news organization should set off a few alarm bells. :engel016:

It used to bug me that print 'reporters' couldn't spell, until I started seeing how many bits got through with misspellings (I guess spellcheck is an option). Maybe it was just not taught in school.

Then I realized that Editors don't "Edit" they just hand out assignments... weaker the story, the weaker the one assigned to it.

However, it's still better than the sports side where it seems you most likely get hired for NOT completing school.

On another side of it, what makes some bit of fluff about some bit of fluff = "NEWS"?
