Several months ago an effort to convert at decent F-104G for CFS2 bogged down in failure. :faint:

I have begun a totally new F-104G from a previously produced source file for another sim. The new ship will feature opening canopy, operating leading and trailing edge flaps, multi-LOD and much more. She'll be ready by next week....lord willin' and the crik don't rise. :gossip:

GREAT, TR! I got so frustrated trying to convert several last year that I nearly broke my computer. Thanks for saving me from myself! Now I'm gonna' have a drink to celebrate!:friday:

The "missile with a man in it"!

Has to be one of the most awesome performing aircraft of the early jet era. As well as one of the most frightening aircraft to fly.

I'm really looking forward to this one. :)

PS. It was the availability of the F-104 that led me to buy Strike Fighters Gold. What a disappointment that sim was! Instead of something approaching the level of quality flight models as shown in European Air War, it turned out to be a very arcadish sim. Bummer.

If I remember correctly....

....several were tried by our local 'converter' crews with no success. So I'm just taking the time to do one from an existing source file for one of the FS2002 versions. :typing:

However, none of the guys that tried had the professional skills that Ivan does. :medals:

You shall have one, Pips

The "missile with a man in it"!

The high altitude shot below was taken at 58,000 feet and I rode here into a stall at 100,000 feet. She fell out of the sky and I was able to recover around 35,000. :faint:

She just...

...keeps getting better.....but a long way to go yet.:jump:

That is my favorite scene in the whole movie until the stall... I felt so bad!!!

When this baby rolls out and gets some skins, I'm goin' for the altitude record! I know I can't take the X-15's record, but I sure am gonna try to be the pilot who's flown the highest in CFS-2... the best pilot you ever saw! :a1310:

Tango Strikes Again! Another GREAT choice!!

I for one; would really appreciate a GOOD F-104.
All the others I've found where flying bricks. Yes they called her: "The Widow maker" for her flight characteristics but the others are old & just fly poorly. :help:

I know the you can create a realistic .air file for her so GO NUTZ!!

Perhaps we should (due to your recent "upgrades") start calling you the "bionic plane builder" :karate: - there might even be a TV show in it fer ya!!

:applause: :applause: :applause:

Ivan....

You need to upload some of these....or are they already available somewhere for CFS2?

Great stuff....

I couldn't resist, Tango, but here's a real one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I5zY-4ZtkY

..., er...The Right Stuff! :engel016:

However, Yeager had to have an auxiliary liquid rocket engine to make it to 114,000. I got 100,000 on my turbo alone. So l'm claiming the real aircraft record for myself. :friday::caked:

I met him when I was just 7 years old at an airshow in Nashville. He grabbed me from the gallery, gave me his ZIPPO and asked me to stand behind his F-80 and light the engine for him. (The crowd loved it, but he scared s*** outa me. I wasn't as impressed with his jet as I was by Bob Hoover flying his F-51 upside down at 10'. :gossip:

I met him again in 1967 when our KC-135 refueled his F4 flight on a Pacific crossing. What a guy! :kilroy:

I want this one with a heartfelt passion. I was very young when the 104's flew on a regular basis. This is the one my friends and I worshiped after the F-100s went almost extinct. I built a plastic model and all that.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

A real native CFS2 104 is just what I was looking for. I tried and tried and tried to get a 104 converted to CFS2...but either the models would not convert well, would not convert at all or where frame rate killers.
