REX is released!

I think I have solved my problem, I created a Track IR profil just for FSX and changed my hot keys to anything but default. Seems to work now.

Glad that worked. I just saw your other post. Once I redid my cfg file IRTrack worked. I still have the keys I have always used, F12 to center and F9 to freeze. I don't know if those or the originals or not?

Is anyone running REX with an Nvidia card on DX10? I got the newest drivers (180.48) for my 9800gt and they have up'd my fps to a locked 25. However the flickering textures are still there in the runways and the water now looks really crazy. I'm extremely happy with the clouds but the only way I can run without the water going nuts is in dx9 I suppose.
The thing that kills me is when I'm not running in dx10 my fps is cut by about 10fps

I attached a screenshot of the crazy water. The second one is with dx9.

timest has said they are working on all of this - some things you just cant forcast even with a thousand beta testers...

I've got a slight problem with the water that is non DX10 related - it is the dawn/dusk starlight reflections on the water - much too strong and large of diameter are these. It is as if each star is leaving a 50' sparkling footprint on the waters surface.

Unfortunately the effect does not show well enough on a screenshot.:kilroy:

I am still trying to reduce the reflective settings in both REX (which slider controls it is unclear) and FSWC but so far no soap

Return to REX

Now I have calmed down, after the trials with downloading I thought I would try REX again. So I set aside a little time, read the Manual re-loaded it and set off. Even though it takes some time to set up, I now think it's worth the effort and is a very rewarding experiance. I also wanted to try the Hellcat, its a dream.

I bought ASX textures but ditched them for REX. I've enjoyed REX since release, but do I want to purchase yet another texture set?

Has anybody switched from FEX and felt that the cost of this package was worth the switch?

I'm still 50/50 on this, I like Fex water effects better, they are a bit smaller in size which I think looks better. Rex though has some beautiful Sky textures and Dawn/Dusk textures.

I see many people complaining about "water"....what is this? a water enhanser or a clouds one?....how much time do you employ to flying over water???..its boring as spending the afternoon chatting with a whistling porpoise!!!!!:costumes::costumes::costumes:.... keep giving the soup guys, I´ll buy when things settle down....its sounds like FSX in its infancy!!!!:isadizzy::isadizzy:

REx is working for me, and from all the traffic on their forum it's not going to be long before some patches are out. I'm running anywhere from 23 down to 10 fps with most graphic settings on the high side, including water.
They are building a FS9 version. In fact they have a forum set up for it.
No I do not work for them.

Here's a picture from this morning.

Enough for me

Really this is quite annoying…
Think, for as beautiful Rex may be, it is not a simple task to run it…very very complicated, never sure about who’s graphics, if FSX or Rex. Too much time to load a theme. Do I have to load a theme? If I go “fly now”, got a crash, same with just want to fly or similar. Then send error report, restart FSX, same thing. Need to load a new theme. Lost a great deal of time
Not good…no patience for this.
Noticed I lost the HUD, and all the glass in F-18 panel. Is it a coincidence? To verify it, uninstalled REX….
Now I’m not able to fly FSX, error after error, restart FSX, send error report? It starts, select everything, press fly, got only a black screen and the error message
To much for me. Have to reinstall everything, but REX.
Have to admit I'm no match for such an imperfect (yet?) add-on.
Please let me know about the patch…it's paid for, perhaps someday I'll be able to use it...
Regards

sorry to hear of these troubles - I am also leary of installing anything into the FSX program as it is so very touchy.

Did you post about this in the REX forums?

I had some trouble getting REX to work for me and use it only to generate a custom theme - which I periodically modify to get the overall effect I want, tailored to what I like best WRT ocean, sky, and sunlighting.

Now I wouldn't use FSX without it - but for a few days there I thought I had wasted my time and money.
