REX Soft Clouds released

I'm trying to understand, I have REX essential+overdrive HD

I'm trying to understand, I have REX essential+overdrive HD installed, will this work with that...?:stupid:
Is this separate from REX essential+overdrive HD or does it become incorporated into REX e+o HD?

It is cloud textures.

It works for everyone, whether
they have default or any
addon cloud textures because it
replaces existing cloud textures.

At the moment it is not part of any other
product but REX are saying that it will
become part of REX 4 but will
still have to be paid for.

I too have the REX products you have.
When I run REX Soft Clouds, low level
clouds become soft.
When I run REX Essentials and ask it to replace
cloud textures, they revert to the REX Essentials
versions.
If I run REX Essentials after Soft Clouds and ask it not
to install low level cloud textures, they remain soft.

That scenario didn't actually work for me. I tried going back to REX E+OD clouds.. flashed up ASN then started the sim and I got no clouds. So.. I went back into REX E/OD.. selected my backup of the originals and that worked. I then went back to REX E/OD and selected my previous REX choice and that worked. Don't ask me why but simply by reselecting REX E clouds in REX didn't work. I've no idea if this is to do with ASN or not.

The thing with Soft Clouds is.. there is no uninstall option for cloud types so if you don't have REX (whatever flavour) or use another utility which backs your originals up.. you'll be stuck with them.. good or bad. I can't recall any similar software that does not backup your originals and can't understand why SC doesn't give you this option.

That is a good point Dave. If you only have default clouds and you install Soft Clouds then you have no backup and cannot return to default. This must be a mistake?

I had an email from REX studios about the release, I already had essentials + OD and REX 4 texture direct but for the price I just bought it anyway.
I've installed it no problems the flightsim store installer comes with everything required for s problem free install, haven't tried them in the sim yet though.

It doesn't say anyhing about operating system requirements in the link above, but FSPilotShop says Windows Vista SP2 or greater.
Can anyone confirm that this is a no-go for Windows XP?

Probably nothing and not related, but I checked RexDirect update and it had a large texture update. My Norton shot it down after it identified it as TrojanGen2.

My Norton 360 has been getting a lot of false positives lately. Especially with new releases that use .exe's. The "community" doesn't like new files, not even from trusted sources. I have yet to get anything from a trusted source.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Well, Norton is the champion of false positives... And a lot of coding in certain exe files is indeed very similar to coding in viruses, but what Norton does is ridiculous!

Just my two € cents worth!

Your shots pushed me over the edge YoYo. I have a thing with clouds so I would get this anyway.

Chief, the answer is yes. There are several sets to chose from. When you hit the install button the software asks you where you want them installed, FSX or P3D.

Well I've not found a set I like in FSX DX10 yet, only tried two so far but at the moment I've gone back to my texture direct set.
