Rise of Flight, anybody?

When I hit print screen button, they go directly to the main RoF folder, to wherever you installed it. :ernae: I'm happy too they made this very screenshot friendly! :applause:

Man...! I had so many lucky shots tonight and I still couldnt hit it!

arrghh...

I guess if a barn was 3 feet in front of me, I would miss it as well. I feel like that guy in FlyBoys that couldnt hit anything, so they figured he was a German spy.

:gameoff:

At least I wasnt shot down this time! I figured out I had my TrackIR just a bit off angle. This time, I could see over and under the wings perfectly. Really really helps. These AI planes are pretty darn good pilots....

Great, my copy of ROF has just arrived this morning. Do the two extra 'free' aircraft download automatically with the update program or do you have to download them yourself?

Regards,
Ian

They'll show up automatically when you start the game and connect. :ernae:

Ive only flown free flight one one none and ground attacks and was very impressed with the peformance. All graphics full except post effects and the sim was smooth.
Last night I tried my first missions ,a delivery and a recon ecort and SCEEEEEECH :isadizzy:. ROF was a slide show. Unflyably slow and jerky.
I am going to play around with it later but wondering if additional ai or weather was the cause of the BIG performance hit.

I noticed a big hit in the missions, too. Best guess is that it's the increased number of AI planes and vehicles, combined with nastier weather. If you turn back a few settings, it seems to run well enough, at least on my rig.

Oh great. My Saitek pedals should be here Weds.
I have not even flown the campaign, just 2 missions and its getting a little old. Maybe I am just frustrated that I cannot hit anything and alot of my Saitek settings are not sticking. The rudder pedals were to be the games savior. If those prove to be difficult to setup I might get back to FSX and let this sim mature some.

I have no throttle control on my X-45 Saitek. Has anyone had that happen? Is there perhaps a fix?

Also, in missions with other planes, trying lowering your scenery resolution down. With all the excitement, I doubt you will be sightseeing the countryside. The biggest hit (on my computer) is the scenery resolution (after Post effects are turned off). Scenery is a huge hit...

I tried the training missions last night. Pretty interesting. Dont have 'basic gauges' showing though when you run them. It will cause film stutter for some reason.

Saitek pedals camne in and, gulp, worked great 1st try in ROF:icon_lol:
I would be telling a lie if I said it greatly improved my marksmanship but it feels more natural than twisting the stick.
Now I am having problems in FSX. The rudders work but kick off. If you hold say right rudder, after a second or 2 it will snap to neutral.Same with left.
I have NOT loaded the Saitek RUDDER cd . If I need to I will.
We need a devoted SOF forum.

SOLVED-The axis was still active in the x-52 joystick. I couldnt disable it so I turned the sens all the way down and the null zone all up.

In the settings in FSX go to the Controls section and then choose the axis tab.

With the X-52 selected as the controller scroll down to the rudder config line and select it, then use the delete joystick assignment key to remove the x-52 axis as an input to FSX.

RoF has been updated again - and you can see the new planes before they are available for purchase.

lots of things were updated including the GUI - however - if you have your throttle and or rudder pedals working now, please be alerted that updating most likely will cause those settings to be changed - and you will have to reset them.

The good news is that you can do it from the 'settings' then 'input' tabs in the GUI

It looks like they have adjusted the AA / AF ingame and reduced some of the horizon shimmer as well as replaced and optimized the ingame map.

better frame rates for me also.

Why isn't there a Rise of Flight board here yet....? :kilroy:
