He just posted the WIP screenshots of the Mk8 for FSX/Accel
over at The Pond (thats www,britsim.com) for all those who don't know.

Go take a look

Leif & Rob, a BIG THANK YOU :applause::applause::applause:

I have a weak spot for British designed jet fighters, one of the reasons I still keep FS9 on my PC is to fly the old Alphasim Meteor F.Mk.3 and F.Mk.8. They still look and fly great but unfortunately the MDL files cannot be opened in FSX. Your new native FSX version will be a most welcome upgrade!

Cheers, Henk.

It's a very nice plane !
I did a short test flight already, here are my impressions:
Positive:
- the 3D model is really nice
- it's native FSX
- it has a very nice-looking and clickable virtual cockpit
- gauges are smooth and sharp

Negative:
- the VC doesn't have switches for generators, and the "avionics" switch doesn't work, so you'll have to use CTRL+E after you've started the engines anyway.
- the planes seems overpowered, takeoff was really short, and climb was really fast... I don't know if the real Meteor was this powerfull...
- it needs some photoreal repaints :)

That's pretty much it. A very nice addition to my FSX hangar, right next to the Hunters :jump:
Thanks a lot to the author(s) of that plane :ernae:

EDIT: and here are some screenshots of this beast!

Hmmm-tried to dl several times,but
all i get are corrupted dl`s.
Anyone an idea?
Thanks
Michael

Not in the least.

The Meteor was a 100% British project, developed by Gloster/Armstrong Witworth. It was developed as their 1st generation jet day fighter.

The CF-100 Canuck was a 100% Canadian Avro project, developed as all-weather bomber interceptor, with (for that period) significant range and radar capability.

One could argue that that the Meteor NF 14 fulfilled a similiar role, though given it's European application, had less than half the range, though a bit higher top speed. It coincided roughlyaround the same with when the Canuck was developed (1952 for the Canuck and around 1954-5 for the NF 14).

I hope that helps,

Rob, et al - another masterpiece. Many thanks!!

I'm seeing the same issue. Running Windows 7 (32 bit) and using 7-Zip. Tried also opening with the latest and greatest version of WinZip. Still no luck. :frown:

Finally got it at the 8th attempt!
Also found a very nice new soundset for the Chipmunk.
Michael

I gave up after 1/2 dozen tries. I think their site might be overloaded. I will have to try again in a few days time.

I gave it 10 attempts but everyone was either a part download or a couple that reached full term but were found to be non-viable. I wonder what the solution is?

This download issue happens all the time over there. Standard answer is that its down to your ISP dumping the download as its taking too long... thing is I like most others that have reported it only ever experience it at Britsim...

It helps (At least for me..) to not do anything else on my computer (Especially not on the internet) until the download in finished, and download one file at a time.

Strange, as I'm downloading with max. 190 kb/sec, while I can get 2.8 mb/sec at other sites (25 mb line)

I had done that, but with no luck. I noticed you come from Europe, maybe that might make a difference?

Not really, I needed several attempts to get the NF.14. First ten or so attempts stopped before the entire file was downloaded.

BTW: Thanks for the F.8 !!! :ernae:
