Rob Richardson's Meteor Mk8 available

For all those who are having trouble downloading Robs Meteor F8 I have posted a link to Sendspace over at www.britsim.com So you can download...And for the Nth time -- Its NOT the website -- its the server -- the file is NOT corrupt -- it is just not a complete download....And as usual its FREEWARE people so quit pissing and moaning I see that you all coughed up money to keep SOH running but Rob English has has a donation box over at the Pond and its very rare that anyone puts anything in it....

So...please if your having problems tell us over there....as a couple of folks did this morning when I woke up (Pacific time) and I had a solution in about ten minutes...by the way my download of Robs Meteor took less than 60 secons

Whoa Leif!
No one is, in your words "pissing or moaning", merely stumped by the lack of viable downloads. Had it become unpleasantly critical this thread would have been closed forthwith.
As the Meteor is a single source download it would have been good if you could have given the members here, who are very supportive of your efforts, the benefit of your "fix".

Well, back on topic; it is a wonderful aircraft! :wiggle:

Hi Guys,

Rob has now uploaded a paintkit for the Meteor F8, so Mr. Daube can now undertake his photoreal repaints! Seriously there are so many repaint possibilities for the F8 that it will take several painters to do it justice.
cheers all, Peter Watkins

I had problems downloading until I switched to my Netscape browser and got it and the RAAF repaint no problems. Different story with the paint kit though.

Would love to see someone do a repaint of the Meteor that is at the Temora Aviation Museum.

Cheers
Pat

Excellent model! Thank you Rob!

I had repeated failures to download as well, kept getting a corrupted file when the download was complete. I finally decided to select "open with" using winzip unzipping/opening the file on download finish instead of saving the file and no problem downloading it. Using that option instead of saving the file is 100% successful for me on every try from the site.

I would love to see Rob Richardson and others post their work on other sites that are a bit more reliable, you may remember Leif I posted on the pond forum about 4 failed attempts to download a sound file and got banned from the Pond .

Mike people in at least 3 different continents get the same and I would'nt think they all use the same lousy ISP.

I had done that, but with no luck. I noticed you come from Europe, maybe that might make a difference?

Regards, Mike Mann

The reason you got banned Rich was simple, you refused to acknowledge a simple request four times.....Rob English has been stumped by why the problem occurs and has worked very hard trying to find the cause and a solution....we don't have the funding that other "freeware" sites do, anyway, Rob tweaked the Ini files this morning and they appear to have improve the problem greatly..I have ALWAYS been able to download even the largest sound and aircraft files in short order and completely.. this morning after the tweak I pulled down Robs Meteor in under a minute...so how does that feature in your "Three continent" statement???

Leif

Don't know why it should make a difference, but I find if I switch to IE I can download any file from the Pond with no problem.

OK AussieMan,

I have just uploaded your paint for the Temora Aviation Museum aircraft on BritSim.com.

cheers, Peter Watkins

I downloaded it without any problems just now. Though I cannot install it for a couple days (I will be working), I have seen the screenshots from others flying it and it looks fantastic. Please accept some "early" thanks from someone that looks forward to flinging it around the skys.

And a big thank you from me too!

It's Bob's aircraft that finally persuaded me to dig out & reinstall FSX (my new rig can cope with it, in stock format at least), and I'm really enjoying them. Really hoping that ne will cover the 'gaps', an FR9 would be lovely, as would the earlier birds - we've never had a decent Mk 4 in any sim as far as I know.

In terms of repaints, I'm looking at the possibility of doing a 19 Squadron repaint, and possibly the 79 Squadron hack - but priority is being given to a DC-3 repaint at the moment!

As I only have acceleration on my system that is what this aircraft was made for, and this is stated clearly at point of download, non working switches and other issues will occur in other sims.
Thanks for all the kind remarks.

Rob Richardson
