Down at SPZO. Weather started clear, then ran into the clouds. Found my marks, two small lakes, and dropped down under the clouds. Found a town and the runway. Thankfully.

Here is what happened. After taking off from SPHO, one of the snakes we were carrying, got loose. My copilot, Linda, freaked out and grabbed a .38 revolver and tried to shoot the snake. Then I started to freak out and lost track of where I was going. Here was this big hill right in front of us, and unable to turn in time, I set down gently on the side of this hill. Damage was minimal. Bent the props and some scrapes, a couple of windows shot out. The cargo was ok. With the help of some of the locals, we lifted the bird up and got the gear down. Pulled her back with four horses, replaced the props, and good to go.

Down at SLLP. Weather was clear over the lake, then turned cloudy near La Paz. Not bad, a NDB to guide us in. Noticed a smaller runway there also. We oped for the longer one. Wonder if there is any fish in that lake. Off to find some oxygen.

Made it to SPCB. Things started going wrong right from the start. As soon as I lifted off, the wind gusts pushed me 90 degrees to to right even with full left yoke and rudder, now Iam looking at a building through the windscreen, I turn hard right away from the building, and now all I can see is the clouds. I push full forward on the yoke, and see the ground come back into view. Still bucking and bolting, but we are flying, in the wrong direction. After climbing to about 15000 feet, I turn back to La Paz, and set course for Cochabamba. Weather was to be clear further east, but that did not happen. All I could see was the occasional hill top. Picked up the NDB and found the airport under a cloud. At 17000 feet I did my best slip down to 10000 for some kind of approach.
