i just got home from an awesome show. kim simmonds from savoy brown, rick derringer, edgar winter, and johnny winter. what a great show! they played all the hits you'd expect to hear. seeing johnny winter was really something. he's one of the last survivors of the real blues men. he's pushing 70, and i can't imagine that he'll have the stamina to keep touring much longer. seeing all of them on the same stage, together, was incredible. living history, right in front of me. filling my ears with guitars. they're still ringing, 2 hours later. i really had a great time. and it was free. courtesy of the local rock station, Q107. last week, i saw rick emmett and his band, which is triumph + another guitar player. next week, i see michael white and the white. the only led zep tribute band endorsed by jimmy page. oh, and the week before last, i was on a 100' yacht, having a buffett dinner and drinks and dessert while seeing the lights of the city from the harbor. my buddy wins these tickets all the time. and he takes me to about half of the ones he wins. last year, i got to see a private rehearsal for soundgarden (i was one of only 75 people in the audience) kim mitchell, tony springer, steely dan, michael white and the white, some rock-a-billy guy who's name escapes me just now, april wine, and that's all i remember. but all for free from the radio.oh, and we're still waiting to hear if we're getting tix to slash later this month. :applause:

he was easily the best part of the whole show. no kidding, probably one of the most fun guitarists i've ever heard live, and i've seen alot of big names. i didn't really know of them before last night.
i'll be checking out their stuff today, new music for me to enjoy!!!

WOW- Kim Simmonds is still playing? I've been enjoying the Savoy Brown album 'A Step Further' since I bought the vinyl in the mid-seventies... It makes me wonder if Chris Youlden is still singing somewhere... One of the best rock/blues singers ever, for my money...
