The Fokker EV,later designated the D VIII,was one of the most controversial aircraft produced by Fokker in WW 1. It was a masterpiece of simplicity, the designer, Reinhold Platz, had cut to the bone all the struttery and wire bracing and the result was undoubtedly the "cleanest" fighter of the time.
