Roychaffin B 25

I tried converting Roychaffin B 25 ( FS 9 ) to use the new textures . The conversion went well
but the aircraft does not appear on the list.
How can I do ????????

You can get a CFS 2 specific version from Roy's site.

This is an older model, but it is very usable in CFS 2. Here's the link:

http://www.roychaffin.com/rcs-panels.html

Look for "Packages" on the left of the screen and click on it. Scroll down a little bit and you'll find the CFS 2 version.

For the new version of the B-25 (version 2.5) by Roy, try converting the FS 2002 (FS 8) version that is on the same page as the FS 2004 (FS 9). FS 2002 models seem to convert a little easier in my experience.

Yagdflieger,
I know the CFS2 version . The problem is , for both 2002 and 2004 , that the conversion passed but after changing the files : Air, dp, Aircraft ( as usual ) , there is not B 25 in the list.

So what did you replace the air file with and what is the actual filenames for your air file and dp (this is very important)? Open the aircraft.cfg, copy the entire top header section and paste it here in a post. I think i know what the problem is...

These are the header sections from the aircraft.cfg of the FS version:

Copy/paste all of the header sections from your new CFS2 aircraft.cfg here for a us to look into...

RCS B-25J RAF Challenges

My major malfunction with this plane is the apparent low power built into the stock AIR file.

At 1700Hp per engine, full throttle, 1/2 flaps and full elevators, it won't get off the ground empty !

I won't have time this week to mess with the AIR file [The PHP eval is taking me away...], but plan to tweak the weight(s) AND Power aspects to make it more flyable....

Stay tuned.

I'm interested to know how to stop the C2D's. Everything is great except those &^%%!@# C2D's and yes the airfile could use some tweeking.:jump:

bearcat,

using 1% B25 H , the name of Air and dp files are B25
Aircraft cfg ( 1% ) is :

[fltsim.0]
title=Mitchell II
sim=B25
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=nok
KB_checklists = CheckList_B-25H Mitchell

Have you tried the same conversion ?

No, i haven't...never felt the need. With the availability of Roy's native CFS2 version it seemed needless to bother converting the FS model. I always figured that any new skins for the FS version can just be converted to CFS2 format if necessary.

Back to your situation, looking into the subject's folder, do you have a sub folder named as "texture.nok"? Do you have any other texture sub folders in the subject's folder, creating a multi-textured structure or is the NOK the only skin held in the subject's folder.

Returned To Base

Well, I managed to survive a whirlwind tour of flights, layovers, and horrible hotel beds en route to California to give my youngest daughter away to her long-time "Husband-To-Be"..... Left last Thursday at Dark 430, and returned yesterday [Sunday] at 1500Hrs.

When my head stopped spinning on my neck last night, I gave the Chaffin B-25 AIR file a nudge...

After many tweaks, bumps, and several "Non Real World" alterations [Horsepower UP / Fuel quantity Reduced
/ Auto Flaps Engaged] this aircraft will fly, turn, fight back, and drop ordinance.

Purists Beware - this is NOT an accurate AIR file for Real World flying - it simply allows the B-25 (as supplied) to take off, stay in the air, perform it's assigned task(s), and return to base.... unless you shoot it down.

Best

Glad ta see ya back on good ol' mother earth again.......how's yer head?

Cheers!

Flight Results

...Glad ta see ya back on good ol' mother earth again.......how's yer head?...

If you believe all the CAT scans and MRIs, I have a brain... but not ONE Doctor can prove that I actually Use It for more than a door stop...

Headache went away after I ate a decent meal and gulped some Sudafed [I get major sinus headaches from cabin overpressurization].

It also helped to sleep in a real bed Vs the Torture Rack at that damned Hotel California...

TTYS ! :ernae:

10-4

I read ya. I tried installing your files in the airplane and took her for a wee spin. I musta done something wrong......barely got 'er off the ground and cruised at a whopping 140 indicated airspeed.

I didn't replace anything other than the panel.cfg file; the air file, .dp, and .mdl files you've named differently so did not replace the originals.

Did I do that right?

Looks like everything is done correctly... Did you try MANUALLY feathering the prop back to about 1/2 ? That always seems to bring up my horizontal speed !

Maually Feather the props

Hi all. SC is that a keystroke command or is there some other way to feather props? Couldn't figure out how to do it.

Best make sure here.....it's the CFS2 original model we're talkin' about here, right? The reason I ask , is that I find her to have lots of getup and go as she is. Cruise at or a bit above 220 with a medium load of bombs seems pretty good to me, though I'm no expert.

Please advise, thanks

Cheers!

Prop Feathering 101

Nope - I be working with the RCS B-25J RAF files...

If you're flying in a windowed atmosphere, you can click the [VIEWS] drop-down and bring up > Window05=Starter Panel <
; this has Throttle, Mixture, and Prop Feather in a fixed / Movable small window.

I often use the key commands to change my prop setting.

Shift + = equals increased prop RPM or a fine pitch

Shift + - equals reduced prop RPM or a coarse pitch or feathered in planes capable of it

Sorry for the confusion

That's what I actually meant......the Chaffin airplane, just that it was mentioned at the start of this thread that someone wanted to convert it. I apologize for confusing the issue. I fly in full screen mode but can take Jagdfeiger's tips and see how it goes.

Thanks for getting back to me on this buys.

Cheers!

I'll give it a look! Dowloading it now. My girlfriend comes to visit me from Sao Paulo and I will get little time until Friday. Please, be patient.

Cheers
