RTWR 2016 Practice #1

From the General Rules (2015):
"ii. Permissible Airports.
Each leg must begin and end at an airport included in the Flight Simulator 2004 or FSX or P3D database of airports."

"iii. Additional airports
No imaginary airports or proposed or planned future airport upgrades are allowed. Pilots may not add airports beyond those in their respective simulator's (FS9 or FSX or P3D) default data base – even if the additional simulated airports accurately represent real life airports."

Ergo, UT-44 is valid as it is in the FSX default database and may be used if the landing and takeoff are flown in FSX (or P3D if it is that database). If TJ0E is at the same location (Lat/Long -not just nearby) then it could be used in FS9. Last year (?) we had an African airport that was at the same city in FS9/FSX but was at two geographical locations as it had been closed and rebuilt across town so it had to be flown to/from in the same sim.

Well, with this UT44 discussion, I'll wait for this airport to be satisfied before I take another FS9 leg.

"edit post" function doesn't want to play nice..

This is a good example of why the rules can get difficult to write to cover 3 sims, defaults, mods, etc. and why participation requires more effort than using a toaster.

The General Rules - which change very little over time - can be found here: http://www.fsrtwrace.com/generalrules.php

Moses03 has been moved to Santa's 'Naughty List" for not checking :santahat:

Der Praktice Meister is probably hard at work. I'll try to check in a few minutes and get back to you.

LOL Thanks Rob. With 3 Mallard variants we are trying to wrap up, there is plenty to do here so I'm in no hurry to do a leg but was trying to keep the baton moving and re-familiarize with and revisit some of these RTWR aircraft.

Allowing for the inherent differences in Lat/Long plotting between TJ0E in the FS9 cylindrical world and UT44 in FSX's round globe, and using Plan G to check a/c location in the two sims, they ARE co-located.

Note that , as the world turns, FSX has Runway 07/25 and FS9 has Rwy 06/24.

Milton, if you want to fly it, give me a couple of minutes to set up and I'll fly wing

Rdy any time. just letting engines burn hydrocarbons.
UAFM Rwy 26 online.

If I get short of gas I'll just go :teapot:

It might be worth missing. Have a hunch there are no lights at destination and there is no navaid or approach. Certainly no town or anything for reference :dizzy:
Of course, if I hit a mountain I should have enough fuel to keep a beacon lit for a while.

Baton is free at TJ0E / UT44

Almost got a hill on base, turning final. Little bushes look large in the dark. Thank goodness rwy shows up grey/snow against the black
