Running CFS2 in Windows 7

I just came across this thread whilst researching a CFS2 install in W7 64bit, I wonder did you get any of these old games running under the emulator? I would be keen to dust off my Mig Alley and Falcon.
Sorry to cause a bump folks.

I haven't messed with it, Naismith. I've been getting my Rami Battle of Britain install put together. I've been taking my time with it, because I want it done right. If you haven't downloaded them already, I give any and all of FoxFour's Korean War packages my highest recommendations.

Thanks for the tip. I went to MS and alas the virtual machine thing is not relevant for my version of W7 as I bought the Premium Upgrade version. Tsk! there's always something eh?

The biggest problem I have seen with running CFS2 (or any other games) in virtual machines is that they have little or no support for DirectX. This means that the games run very slowly or with very low graphics levels.

Two words:

Dual Boot.

Buy a cheap 1TB drive, put WindowsXP on it, and run all your old programs. Then place Windows 7 64-bit on the rest of the machine to run the future. I've seen the hard drives as cheap as $49 lately... so cheap your significant other won't even notice the money spent...

The virtual PC would be a waste of time and money.

Go to Simavation CFS2 Fourm. There you will see a post about Win7.Check pages 1 and 2,I think you will be interested in what you find. Please post some comments here because I am thinking about doing a rebuild of this pc and would like some suggestions and expeance figures before I start the rebuild. The reason I am doing the rebuild is to increase the FPS for CFS2 up to about 350 to 500 FPS in full screen if possible with all sliders wide open.

Bob, you will need the latest hardware to get frame rate figures like that.
I know Dirtman reports getting a max of 350 fps in his Vietnam install on his all new system.
