I think I need a scooby snack or a good nights' sleep
Finally seeing the light after 4 days of putting fsx back together from a new install.
Don't ask me how or why I do the things I do, fat fingers, skinny mouse, who knows!
Anyway, I clicked the delete button on the SimObjects folder. eeeeeeek!! I didn't
loose the entire folder, but don't know how many or what all is lost but some of then
ain' there no more.
I looked on the disks just knowing I would find the folder with all the default planes
and stuff on them. Nope . . Of course I don't really know what to look for.
If some one could take my hand and point me in the correct direction I would certainly
appreciate it.

Thanks.

elcamino,

I have 3 things to try.

#1. rename your FSX install (just tack on .bak) and reinstall fsx. Grab your objects folder and copy to original FSX install. Delete new installation folders and undo FSX rename.

#2. There are many free programs to find deleted files. They work well if the files you want to recover have not been written over. Downside is that you can only get separate files, not an entire folder. That means you would have to retrieve every .cfg, .air, .dds, ... file and reconstruct each separate aircraft folder.

#3. Just a fresh install of FSX.

As a side note, due to interests of my own. I am going to copy all of the fsx .cab files from the two DVDs and extract the files. Could prove interesting, and time intensive. If it works I'll make a directory of what can be found in each .cab file and make it available to all.
