RV-7 Today

A quick question, I believe a few repaints were done when this was a beta. Presume these will be still ok for this version?

The price seems to be the going rate. The latest Carenados are getting close to 40USD...about the same as this RV-7.

I have paid more for add-ons in the past and gotten LOTS less fun and thrills than I have with the RV. 5 to 6 years work going into this, I would say the price is relatively cheap, considering the fde's alone give more of a sense of real flight than anything I have seen recently in FSX.

Price comfort is different for everyone, but in terms of value it's hard to beat. Superb model in every way. You can fly in and out of small strips, yet cruise at very high speed, it's nicely aerobatic and has great visibility for sightseeing. My advice would be resist the impulse buys, save your money up until you have enough for this model.

I was intimidated by the price as well initially many months ago when it was still in beta and $38, but it came well recommended and all these months later this is still one of my favorite planes in the virtual hangar and I fly it all the time, whereas some of the other planes I bought after this for similar prices I don't even fly as often.

There is just something great about it's great visibility, fun handling and great cockpit and modeling which combined with the hotrod engine/power makes it perfect for the type of lowlevel GA flying I do.

All I can say is if you are worried it may not be worth the cost the Flight1 30 day guarantee is your friend, that's what made me take the leap, but I suspect like many of us, you will find it very much worth it after you fly it.

I made a few minor changes to ZK-MX5. I was unable to go with the black panel because I could not properly change the night panel lighting texture properly to go with it so went with the default vc textures.

Pilottj great textures ;)
I love the stick-on style reg numbered for ZK-MX5 ...that's a cool way to add a lot of style.

I hope you can get your black panel to work...I have one somewhere. The trick is your choice of 'black' can't be too dark...it may sound wrong, but pure black is reflecting zero light and that's very rare. In the average photo blacks are usually shades of gray. You likely didn't use pure black, but try lightening your panel even further. Lighten you panel colour until it matches the 'black' in the panel gauges (try 15% bright). This will give the FSX environment lighting some room to work with (from intense sun to shadow). The night lighting uses a multiply function so the panel colour needs to reflect some light...a gray will do that.

Nice work, the designs look awesome.

Thanks Danny, I still might attempt a black panel with another repaint. When it is released people can copy it to the ZK-MX5 scheme. I sampled the 'black' of the dashboard which is a dark grey. It looked very nice in the day time but when turning on the panel light at night it reverts to the 'lighted' default panel colors. I need to figure out how to create the light splash for the black panel. I don't suppose you have a PSD layer or layout of the panel light splash :)

Cheers

I have added a couple of re-paints, all well and good however I seem to have no engine noise? I have clickable sounds in the cabin but just no engine noise?

Danny,

I looked and looked and it was right there just missed it. Many thanks for the help.
